Thanks, Mr Zooks. I consulted my mate Keith, who has more recording experience than I do, and the results can be heard by comparing this with the previous version. I'm pleased with it, and am thinking about getting it professionally mastered to see what happens. I'm not sure if a GB version warrants that, but it's only $20 or so, so what the heck.

Nice one Graham!
As Stan says, the bottom is really solid, and the rest of the mix sounds good too. There's something about the vocals that jars a little - I think it's excessive sibilance. Maybe you could EQ that out of the way a bit (or perhaps it's a matter of reducing compression a tad. It becomes less obvious as the song progresses - maybe I'm just being precious :)
A really good song with some nice playing and thoughtful vocal work. I reckon that for $20 it might be worth getting someone to do a pro job on it and see what happens.

Thanks, Neil. I noticed the same thing and tried to EQ it out, to no avail. It's the iMac mike, however, and all things considered it's remarkable that it sounds okay at all. I used to use a proper mike (a Shure) and never got very good results, so on a whim I started using the built - in one on the iMac. Loads better! One day I'll get a better one, (I hear the Snowballs are very good), but until then I'll just have to put up with Auntie Sibilance.

Really polished song...
Hi Graham. Sounds very good to me as is. Really polished song. The vocal quality you are getting out of the iMac internal mic is pretty impressive but I would save the $20 and put it towards a Snowball, or better still, a condensor mic and audio interface. You will be surprised at the jump in quality. Take care, Peter.

Mr Rodgers
was very good with words, and was one of the first people I knew who regularly quoted from pop culture. In the verse you've got Star Trek ("Time's Arrow"), The Time tunnel and the Fantastic four (negative zone). He was equally comfortable with Shakespeare. What a guy. We all miss him.
