Description
If you have been following our other postings you know that we wrote and recorded these songs between 1968 and 1973. All recordings are Analog, Tape, and most, including this are live cuts. No edits, no multitrack, just a couple mics and a feed off the FOH mixer.
We wrote this song because our agent told us "you need more 'Rock and Roll" tunes. Fun songs. Elvis, Chuck Berry... you know "ROCK & ROLL".
We already did a few 50's and early 60's cover tunes, so we decided to write our own "OLDIE". We wrote this...
"Rock and Roll Saturday Night"
Simple song. Simple lyrics. We played some gigs with hundreds of people up there singing and clapping with us.
Hope you enjoy. This is a short cut- normally we all take off on solos and do a long "sing along with us" segment. In this version, Bobby, the true musical prodigy of the band who could play any guitar, brass, reed or woodwind instrument in any key without ever having played the instrument did a little vocal solo towards the end. Wish we had his sax solo on this cut- he played like he had grown up with Buddy Holly.
So, lean back, get ready to clap your hands and sign along as we "Rock & Roll Saturday Night".
