Description

It’s been a very long and lonely journey in this space pod I call TinTin. 7 Years 7 months and 7 days to be exact. Why am I writing this log, well control central has requested these routine reports to keep our minds from going normal to spaced. So like always I will comply.

REPORT Log: 031777: I am secluded and all alone in on the outer fringes of the prime border of our so called great empire. Nothing, but alpha spectrum radiation and solar dust to report. Nothing exciting. Where is this great new adventure I signed up for? Nothing but time, routine for my mind to get spaced.
Psyche report: I’m hearing the voices of old relatives and loved ones long since gone out here-I can’t explain it. I have been having the same dream over and over since I arrived here…

	haunting the baby grand she plays the piano to keep her mind clear of the dream. the notes echo through the empty halls of TinTin, with the lonely music almost pleading for anyone out there to join in... and they do. beautiful improv, loved the ghostly alien tendrils shadowing your notes. I have not had enough time to participate in this race, until recently when a friend offered one of his three (!) space-race pieces to me as a head-start collaboration. So last week's "no" has turned into this week's "yes"... there will be an ic42 collaboration, hopefully tonight or tomorrow. thank you for your participation, and your interest in mine!

I agree
with all above, that the piano playing is supercool and does all that it is supposed to do (even if I did get some other expectations from the song art).

The intro on the other hand is really "out there".

Some have suggested that the backdrop be more prominent in the mix. Maybe rather have the piano a little back in it? In one or two places it feels as if it is sniffing the reds in the "happy meter" (if you know what I mean...)

Love that opening, then the introduction of the piano on top of distant ambient sounds. Personally, I think the first 1:30 or so makes the tune. I know you're a pianist, so you want to play the piano, but the sparse bits work better. Probably not what you wanted to hear, but there it is anyway. In any case, it's a beautiful piece that maybe wants to be stretched out some. Great work. Enjoyed the description and the artwork. TinTin ... hahaha, clever... lends some authenticity to the premise.

For the suggestions. I appreciate them. I love both genres of ambient and piano. The fusion of the two might be more of a challenge, but I keep trying. I really would love to make it all ambient, but the yearning to play piano was more prevalent.

As for the length of the piece, it is a bit short, but it is improvised and I have a limited amount creativity when it comes out like that :)

Well done - beautiful work. There are a fair amount of good artists here at MJ - YOU are one of the exceptional ones. You choose quality over quantity and it is very impressive. One thought - you might consider eliminating the last 15 or so seconds of dead space at the end (no pun intended). Other than that - gorgeous work!

to get an awful lot into a very short time; a not inconsiderable gift! And that change at 2:51 is heart breaking. All in all, a very pensive piece.

Beautiful piano playing...especially the first minute I find extraordinary. Thomas Newman does things like that, rarely find this kind of subtlety on a website with free downloads! The lingering bell synth and airy accents in the background are wonderfully subtle and weightless. I'd love to know what library you're using for that!
The composition is moving and mature - this is quite an amazing track, and what an entry to the space race. Thanks for the download.

I'll try to check out the reference to Thomas Newman, it sounds interesting.

The library of sounds that were used are actually sound cards for the X8. I believe the tones that were used are from the World sounds card. The lower sounding pads are modified patches from various other cards.
