Description
Just came home with the little Korg Monotron pictured above and realized that the deadline for the Space Race '11 was today. So here's three improvised (uncut) tracks from the montoron and one track of the iPhone app Manetron (mellotron) - also uncut.
Quick and dirty - total recording time 20 minutes.

Looking forward to checking out the other entries - thanks Drak for sponsoring the event.

the joy of analog, and a new play toy, how fun! I believe that most objects in outer space are either slow and ginormous, or quick and dirty. Knob twiddling and noise making is such fun.

Spacey
I gotta get me one of those. Love that Korg! If I ever went to space, this is what I imagine it would sound like. Some guitar would sound killer over this.

this is great, It reminds me of sound effects from some of my fav SciFi movies, 2001, Logan's Run, Westworld,Fantastic Voyage etc. Definitely captured the feel of those 60's 70's soundtracks for sure. classic. And so easily produced, very cool.

Hmmm...this has the
oscillatory frequency of a Jarvonian Outworld Omniposter and is bringing the buggers out of the far reaches of netherspace to do us some harm! nice little toy I expect we shall be hearing more of this?

Make cool sounds. Happy you could tweak this together in time. Suppose you could make a full blown piece from this later on...

Start up the laser show
My head is exxxxpppppaaaaaaannnnnnndddddiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnggggggg.

Very cool Kevin. I didn't realise there was a Manetron app, and since I really like the way the mellotron was skillfully used by some 60s/70s bands I will look it up. I just got the moog app which is fun.

Nice improv!!
Doug

my ipad
is used for games and videos, but i make a good effort toward downloading musical apps - just haven't figured out how to use them yet. I wish i had any idea at all how to use a mellotron or monotron or any -tron. next time i'm in NY i'll stop by for a lesson from the master. all this needs is a little theramin. is there an app for that? this is great Kevin, a nice slow increase in tension and then an easy release. you and your on-the-fly projects amaze me.

The future is now
Great background music. I can imagine the video... somewhere on a distant planet, citizen gather in a park to find a new way to freedom and dignity, and the police send out automatic orbs with shock needles and brainwashing gas, and they begin darting here and their, creating a disorienting chaos blamed on the protesters themselves...

Filling up...
...on some asteroid juice/gas/atmosphere. You've captured a sound that is other-worldly, like a tone generator that has a brain. "Open the pod bay doors, Hal." The first human landing on Mars should be accompanied with this futuristic sound. Maybe it will be.
