Lyrics
we are exporting our en...tro...py...
we are destroying you.
our system of values, our corporate interest

will be imposed on you.

"you are cleared to fire"
"got him... there's the other guy"
"okay, got him..."
"there is still some movement...guy crawling around where we hit before"
"alright, hit him"

Ha, not for everybody! Well now it is for me. I had to do a second take to begin to digest this. Where to start. Unique and original is where, lots to like through out. Not an easy foot tappin toon, but that's what I love about it. The classical intro with the organic vocal was effective, love the section when the drums and bass come. I can't quite make out the sample, but it was another welcomed addition. The whole picture was painted and for some reason I imagine fallen trees.

i'm glad you found me... i tried to leave enough bread crumbs for you. i really value your opinion. one of these days, i'd love to get together with you on a song. perhaps you could teach me a thing or two about production. it's great to hear from you.

be well,

Steve

Powerful piece of work. A message. Well delivered. Love the effects on the vocals. It has the Carbon/TF musical footprint.

Oooh, a drone up there in the photo. Scary shit. Here comes the Terminator.

Steve, I could not dance to this at all, so I give it a 4. Bleaaghh. Just ignore the vote. Probably some Moron ... ummm ... Maroon 5 fan.

Unique and wonderfully creative. Welcome back ... finally ... sheesh. Almost lost you in the 12/6 upload orgy.

nothing else I've heard before. Love your sounds. I sure hope not...that everything will be destroyed. I'd rather that it be transformed. Thanks.

Your words mean a lot to me; thank you very much for your comments. Based on reading other feedback you've given, I think you have a very good ear. And you are quite thoughtful, which I admire.

I appreciate you looking past the poor sound quality of this post and I'm glad you got something out of the experience of listening. I admit the message is quite bleak, but I too hope things will be transformed. The mood was inspired by the 3 part movie "Zeitgeist", which can be found online here:

and here: http://vimeo.com/15520868
and here: http://vimeo.com/13770061

I think the second video is particularly insightful, and speaks of the kind of social transformation that interest me. You might like these.

Thanks again,

Steve

Annonymous, arbitrary, and totally subjective. Now, that's a winning combination!

I do find the rating of this song to be quite amusing. My bio does say "this music isn't for everyone". I'm perfectly okay with that.

Thank you for your kind words; I'm glad you enjoyed this.

By the way, I lurk around the forums from time to time and I am aware of your situation (to the extent that you have shared it). My thoughts are with you and I wish you the best of luck.

neighborly love
Hey neighbor, good to see your song get approved, finally!

sweet - yes
dystopia - of course, this is human history after all
dissonance - only in the lyrics, the music arrangement is cool

Very original arrangement. Love when it kicks in at 2:54 with the drums, bass and crunchy guitar chording.Enjoyed!

Thank you very much for your kind words. I'm glad that you enjoyed this. I'm actually a little surprised that a song called "entropy" delivered right around the holiday season would be appealing to anyone! I am grateful that you took the time to delve into this.

Be well,

Steve

Ah, this is wonderful
Apparently, a sock monkey of some kind... yet, this is good! Well, impressive and thanks for sharing. IMHO, this conception might be tired, yet, the music spewed forth and my ears demand, I will be back.
Thanks for leaving the trail to your lair.

Leaving a trail
I did that, yes. Following was of your choosing. First, thank you. I'm happy you liked this. Tired conception? I can't argue this point. Musically, I grab at whatever is available no matter how hackneyed one might consider the ideas to be. I do what I can. Second, I gotta tell ya, I'm not in love with this "sock monkey" description. Ah, maybe I should just embrace it... whatever it might be. Thanks for dropping by; I appreciate your thoughts.

Finally!
I get to hear one of your songs, and I really dig this! Somewhat Floyd-ish and experimental.... I can't really pigeon-hole what it sounds like, because it is it's own creation. At 2:53 when the drums come in, and that at 3:30 with the guitar...that is a very nice bonus that only makes the song even better. Thanks for the download and keep up the great work!

PS- I didn't think the production was bad or "over-compressed" sounding.... I mean, it may be, but I couldn't tell... I'm no production master, as you can tell from my songs. What I'm trying to say is: With my headphones on it sounded great to me =)

Hey man, it's great to hear from you. I'm glad you liked this song... it's not exactly an easy listen. The "guitar" you've referenced at 3:30 is actually a distorted bass sound... too clumsy to play the six string. I guess it wouldn't be a carbon/TreeFalls song if it didn't have an incongruous, loud, and somewhat obnoxiously surprising section to it. Some of us masochists enjoy that.

re: production... you heard enough to enjoy it, so that's good. headphones help. there's something that sounds wrong, and it's too quiet... at least on my crappy computer speakers. I've noticed your productions are brighter than this offering. Go ahead, listen to this, then one of yours in succession. You'll hear what I mean. Anyway, I'm working on it :) You may see a re-post down the line.

Thanks for dropping by,

Steve

Great dynamics
Although there are several distinct sections, it all hangs together as a thing rather well. It sounds like no one else - always a good sign.

"hangs together"
Really, that's all one can ask. It's always such a relief once I feel I have a cogent "thing" that works together. I'm glad it worked for you. Thanks so much for your kind words.

cinematic
You've got a cinematic flair to your tracks.. they take the listener on a visceral journey. Reminds me of The Wall in a way. But completely different. I dig. The soundscapes are really haunting, emotional, and powerful. Your mixes are really on point too. Props sir!

that is a really nice compliment; thank you for saying so. The Wall will always be one of my all time favorite albums and the comparison is humbling. i'm really glad this did something for you. peace, el p.
