Lyrics
I can tell by your eyes I've had my day
Seven years of cold driven you away
Everybody knows my love is true
The only one I never told was you
Between the devil and the deep blue sea
You own the burning shore that can set me free
Drawn a line in the sand fragile deep
A beach that's scarred by your hand oceans weep
A dream to wash away what's lost its core
Or a need for your return to dig some more

Chorus

Your love was heaven made
But I put you upon the edge
When I could not reach your grade
Now its me who's walking on your ledge
Take a step to far in the search for time
You've made your stand to close
You've made your stand to close
To the waterline

You can tell by my eyes I'm giving in
I haven't got a clue what's happening
You've set your mind now there's no way back
Bitterness will strike and hearts attack
This lonesome shore may never stand your tide
Wash away your man and his foolish pride
Any lines of love should have no end
An isle of me and you we can defend
The waves are there to offer us protection
A circle in the sand our Avalon

Chorus

Bridge

I can't raise above your raging sea
Quicksand that's my love holding me
Tear tasting water now my wine
Gentle wave sweep away your line

Chorus

fade

Drowning the vocal with extra echo made the feel of the song more 60s feel which I like best ..nice song and structure ...nice vocal work ..good Folk feel ..maybe its the Folk Rock in me who wish you record with a full band ..thanks a lot for sharing !!

another beauty
i cannot think of a better way to spend a cold December evening than to curl up inside your sweet song and let your voice soothe me. so basic, just you and a guitar, so organic and so perfect for the songs you write. you are a true talent.

Waterline
A beautiful song full of thought-provoking images. I'd have brought in some fingerstyle guitar by the middle of the song to help to build it (maybe that's just me - the more guitars the better is an approach that sometimes gets me into musical trouble!) Much enjoyed!

Terrific singing...
And the whole song and performance have a great vibe, aided by the Plenty O' Reverb production...I tend to think that if the song's there, then everything else will work out, and I think this song is solidly there...

It's really great to hear a new (to me) and very solid songwriting voice at MacJams. Huge thanks to magna tone (Karen) for pointing me in your direction.

If I was going to give feedback on the production, I'd say that the vocal is terrific. The reverb-heavy production works for me, but it might be cool to get a more sophisticated reverb sound in there. I think I'd try for a richer recording of the acoustic guitar. And that's it. The quality of your voice is great, but the feel of the vocal performance, the phrasing and dynamics, are really nice.

Time to go check out your other songs...

Imagine working at a steelworks in a northern town for more years than you care to remember, with words and lyrics always the main distraction from it all. Hastily written down on the back of job cards and scraps off paper, hidden away from your mate... [see more]
