Lyrics
You have been laying down the law, now,
Some sorry wings to weigh me down.
You’ve been laying down the law, Man,
Sunk shoulders bent beneath your crown.
The dawn will slouch itself away
Before you dare to make a sound.
And the buzzards choke the skies, now,
They’ll flood you staggering alone.
Yeah, the buzzards choke these skies, Man,
Where are these seeds you have sown?
They’ll let you fester in your breath
Till you’re worn as mottled stone.
There is a moss that smothers morning –
came with daybreak in your eyes.
Yeah, there’s a moss that smothers mourning,
And it is deaf to all your cries.
You sewed together all your wounds,
Said ‘last to wince gets out alive.’
Some sorry wings to weigh me down.
You’ve been laying down the law, Man,
Sunk shoulders bent beneath your crown.
The dawn will slouch itself away
Before you dare to make a sound.
And the buzzards choke the skies, now,
They’ll flood you staggering alone.
Yeah, the buzzards choke these skies, Man,
Where are these seeds you have sown?
They’ll let you fester in your breath
Till you’re worn as mottled stone.
There is a moss that smothers morning –
came with daybreak in your eyes.
Yeah, there’s a moss that smothers mourning,
And it is deaf to all your cries.
You sewed together all your wounds,
Said ‘last to wince gets out alive.’

Everything about this track shows how hard you've been working at your craft. The open rhythm guitar track provides a good melodic hook. The harmonica is melodic and the tone is excellent. The slide fills are quite nice and add authenticity. One of your best vocals to date. It sounds like your opening up more when you sing. As always the lyrics are excellent. Your lyrics always strike me as Lennon writing things like Strawberry Fields Forever or Across the the Universe. They are abstract just enough to allow the listener to take from them whatever they hear in them.
