Description
The song started with J.J. Cale’s version of “Momma Don’t Allow” in mind – fairly laid back, with the opportunity for several solos. There have been a few pauses and changes of direction as the song has progressed, but we got there in the end!
The players (in alphabetical order) are:
• Stan Gadziola (Gadzooks): electric guitar (lead and right channel rhythm), harmonica
• Philip Gardner: acoustic guitar (left channel), bass, vocal
• Fred Jam (Loob): Drums, mix, master
• John Paxinos: keyboard
Thank you to the musicians who played on this – the whole point was to provide a platform to show their skills and I hope you enjoy listening to their work as much as I do!
John and I did a lot of work in bands and as a duo in the 80s and early 90s and it was good to reunite and do some work together on this song.
Stan is an extraordinarily talented player – I love listening to anything he does!
All well as his stellar drumming, special thanks to Freddy for the mixing and mastering. The sounds he gets is vastly superior to my mixing efforts, and his judgement about what works is faultless.

Lyrics
The band is back together and we’re going on the road
The band is back together and we’re going on the road
We’ll collect the dues we payed out, time to get back what we’re owed
Listen to the drummer, as he’s laying down the beat
Listen to the drummer, as he’s laying down the beat
Kicking on the bass drum, he is turning up the heat
You can hear the keyboards soaring, while the bass man keeps it tight
You can hear the keyboards soaring, while the bass man keeps it tight
Feel that rhythm in you, they are in the groove tonight
With his hands cupped round the microphone, you can hear the harp
With his hands cupped round the microphone, you can hear the harp
Listen to its angry growl, or a wail straight from the heart
When you hear the guitar you know he’s got the blues
The blues comes from that guitar, and it’s aiming straight at you
Like a stick of dynamite, with a lighted fuse
The band is back together, come and hear us play tonight!
The band is back together and we’re going on the road
We’ll collect the dues we payed out, time to get back what we’re owed
Listen to the drummer, as he’s laying down the beat

I remember doing something similar to this with a club band I was with back in the early 80s. Not quite like this but same idea (intorducing the band and solos). I may have some old video footage of it I think. As usual Stan just kicks ass, and so did your buddy John! Great job on the bass and acustic! We had some fun!
