Description
Not sure where this fits ...not a cover, but an interpertation of a song and a tune that as I did research on I became more and more intrigued....apparently this was either a traditional folk tune originally or a Song from the french-cajun community called Grand Texas and I could find no date of origin...then Hank Williams took the tune in the 50s,changed the lyrics and it became Jambalaya which in and of itself was almost a parody of Cajun music...then covered by the world at large it seems...so I was a bit jumbled in my clarity of was it trad ,public domain, was it Mr Williams .....but as I did "Zydecorocking All Over the World " which was also almost a parody if not an outright "pisstake" then I thought I should give something back...and also illustrate that the Ackordeen skills have not developed much ! Then when I recorded the various tracks and looked at the cubase screen I got the name for this load of old toot.Sorry folks this is "Jumbled Layers" Cajuns please fergiv me ahhh yee !

Oh and if it IS classed as a cover ....well it's not a cover of Hank Williams but the original by Mnsrs unknown so thhhh !...but I will remove it if it offends.....which it will musically anyway !

Baloney!
It does nothing but delight. I pictured you as one of those guys with all those contraptions on them... a one man band. Sounds terrific. I'll listen to accordion, only if you play it. Thanks.

I know that you
have a solid dislike of the old wheezebox so I am right chuffed that you even listen to this smorgasbrod of old toot...and wheeze and twang...thanks Char, it is some right good encouragement.

ah yes!
This put a smile on my face :)see...

Normally not my genre to listen to but when I take a chance on here at MJ's I'm always delighted. Also Mom used to play the accordion and so this piece is nostalgic as well.

And no it did not offend-so thhhh!!! heheh

Thanks for sharing.

I LOVE jumbled layers!
Shrimp and sausage (bangers, to you) and rice and ... oh, sorry; you wanted comments on the song.
Well, it doesn't offend. And it is lots of fun. And while your Ackordeen playing might not have improved any, it's still WAY better than mine. And there's no yodeling. And...
Thanks for the smile Chris.

Chris
You really are getting quite good at that accordion; it's quite amazing how fast you're getting that hang of that instrument! This is spicier than any shrimp jambalaya I know of! As always you commingle fun and music that is absolutely gobsmackingly good! Thanks again and take care, Michael

I think it's because
I honestly believ that it is a control thing....I believe that the Ackordeen is in control and I am trying to wrest it back....apparently a look of furtive panic takes over when I put the darned thing on !

This is a lot of fun!!
I think you underestimate yourself, man. If I might make one suggestion, the triangle is distractingly high in the mix, then at about 1:10 it settles down to where it needs to be... Let the accordion do the singing! :) Nice work!

Jarvoid said 2178 days ago (December 6th, 2011)
Thanks...I was
a little dubious about the triangle and did tone it down ...should have had the guts do it sooner...though I do find as well that when you bounce the mix down to MP3 the mix can change rather annoyingly and I would welcome any comments about that from anyone !!

Cheers

In your
own inimitable style Chris.... great party song here and I can assure you that your Ackordeen skills are far better than mine.... last time I heard this song it was Jo Stafford and Frankie Lane in the 50's, cheers M

The ackordeen is
giving me a hell of a work out and a runaround....it is so different from my other instruments....it does not even play in a piano like manner as the expression all comes from the bellows ....the only similarity is the physics of the piano layout.....all else is odd....and that is my middle name !!

Cheers Maurice

This has got a cool live feel to it. I especially like the accordion in the mix.

Thanks Dave...
I am somewhat intrigued by the remark "live feel" which I have had a number of times from folks on various songs......am I missing a trick here ? My stuff is usually recorded in one take until I get a track that is the best of the worst and then I play along to that and so on and so forth....so I suppose that is live........should I be doing something else ?

Thanks for the input appreciate it.

Cheers

Lovin' that ackordeen and some nice flatpickin' on the electric ! Banjo is pretty cool too! I feel like I'm right there with you . The only thing I would suggest is some bottom ... a back and forth 2 noter country-ish bass.
A fun energetic piece!

Yes ....
on the Cubase version WAV there is quite a nice "bottom" from the electric geetar.....it seems to disappear when bounced down to MP3...I do not know how to prevent this .....any ideas ..thanks for the input,it means a lot.

Le Bon Temps
This piece has such a happy quality to it. I can't help but smile. You're a one man Cajun band! And that banjo - between the accordion and banjo this is really authentic sounding.

Nice performances Chris.

laisser le bon temps roulez !! I have been listening to a few cajun and Zydeco bands just lately and hoped to achieve some sort of proximity to the sound....if not the music !!

Thanks Doug

Cool
Not exactly what I was expecting as a frequent Jarvoid listener, lol. This is cool, sounds almost improvised in places. We have done something similar with the Skweryl stuff. Fun experimenting with new sounds. Sounds like a live performance in an old tavern. Good work!

Jarvoid said 2178 days ago (December 6th, 2011)
Well to be absolutely
honest with you ...the bits that sound improvised are where i am trying frantically to cover up a cock up or where I am almost out of control with the bellow hand button fingering co-ordination .. 80)

I will master this beast !! I will.....

If that is the sound that you heard then I am dead chuffed 'cos that was my aim, ameteur band at an old barn dance or pub or bar whatever...

Cheers

This has great bounce. It says a lot that already you can play the accordian to a very good standard along to other instruments. Good tune!
Jarvoid said 2178 days ago (December 6th, 2011)
Well ...to a standard...
of some sort or other....still working on it ....nice of you to drop in and give it an ear'ole test run,'preciate that. Got a mandolin yet ?
