Put Your Foot Down Heavy, Mr. Blue

Description
This is part 2 of my 3 part protest song series. My neighbor gave me this inexpensive Spanish guitar and it seemed to come loaded with these songs. This one literally flew out after I put strings on it for the first time. Thanks, Tom.

Lyrics
I've been cut to the spleen
Been sucker punched til I'm green
Been laid low a lot, been broken but I'm not
Gonna stop til I've seen
What a man can do, when he puts one shoe in front of another
And he's joined by another

Here's a question I want to know:
Will they make it to the distant shore
If they 'Walk n Roll' (c) ghs crimi
From the break of day?
Let Freedom Ring
Teach your children to sing
Put your foot down heavy. it's a precious thing we're protecting

I've got some lofty ideals
I'm puttin' down with my heels
I'm learnin' more and more, I'm openin' up my door
And I can hear the bell peals
Cause it's for us all
But we could save this ball if we all put our feet down heavy
And heavier

Then a crowd will grow I know
Like we're on our way to Yasgur's Farm
I can hear the thunder of a million soles
Marching as to war
We can't take much more of this
Let's put our foot down heavy and heavier everywhere

Put your foot down heavy, Mr. Blue
Put your foot down heaviest
We're all counting on you
Stay your course, never lie
Let your convictions just fly, way up to the sky
But put your foot down heavy. Mr. Blue
Put your foot down heavy, Mr. Blue

Put your foot down
I love that little riff you're using to sit underneath this. Your voice is fascinating - seems to have a rough edge but with a smooth lightness to offset that. The harmonies work well. You have something to say and you say it powerfully but calmly. Impressive work!

Thanks
All of your comments are things I work on constantly--like disguising a voice I find a bit too whiny for my liking--so I try to do my Brook Benton thing with it.

I like the lyric especially the first 3 lines. I like the picked guitar and your voice has a lot of character. Good call to feet :)
