I know this one! This was written by Fats, right?! I just love this composition! Mark you always pick just the right thing to lend your incredible talents to--I don't believe I've heard anyone perform this outside of Mr. Waller and Mr. Reinhardt. To say your playing here is superb would be an egregious understatement--you've amazed me and everyone else once again. Thanks so much and thank you for allowing a download! get over to ziti's ... or get over here, although I suspect Ziti's place may be closer... Either way, I always love your recordings, and here's hoping you'll do plenty more, even if on an iPod. This particular recording has a live, club feel. Are you familiar with the playing of Ed Bickert? He is one of the most awesome jazz guitarists I ever heard, and when I was a young man aspiring to be a jazz guitarist I would go listen to him as often as I could in Toronto. Your playing is comparable to his... one of the things i always dug about Ed's playing was his chord voicings, kind of piano like, and that's what I'm hearing here too. Here's a link to a random Bickert performance on YouTube, but there are many others: http://youtu.be/xY-K00o-1BE Fantastic track, tastefully and impeccably played, as always. Who is the guitarist in the photo, playing what appears to be a Bb7? Check out my latest song called Momma's Song

Ed Bickert is a genius of the guitar, the stuff he did with Paul Desmond is incredible. Never in my wildest dreams will I ever come close to him.I have been listening to him for a long time, maybe stole a few of his chord voicings. Never got to see him live, that must have been amazing! Unfortunately I think he has quit playing. Thanks for the comment. Check out my latest song called I Could Write a Book

Well, first off... ...weren't you going to get a Mac? Or a MacBook? Or did that go off to college with someone? Let's see. I could mail you a baby Tascam. Although, seriously, you're getting some pretty neat recorded sound out of the iPod. What app are you using? And do you still have a POD? Or just come over here and I'll be your engineer. Who IS playing the bass? I love the interaction between the guitar and the bass throughout this, Mark. Your own playing is intelligent, tight but loose, with lots of life in it. Jitterbug waltz I love the lines you play - and the way you add the chordal touches here and there to give it depth. The bass is exceptional - life and movement throughout. I'm thinking of Howard Alden and Jack Lesberg on their "No Amps Allowed" outing as I listen to this - one of my favourite CDs. Outstanding - thanks for the download! Fab duet OK, so Ziti, Ed and I all want to know who is playing bass!!!? Excellent. Man, who wd've thought that little blue mic on an ipod could capture this. I guess the old adage that great performances transcend recording technique holds true here. It even gives it a kind of era-inducing old school vibe, captured in 1948 at some club in Jersey. Fab track. Thanks for sharing this. But... WHO IS PLAYING BASS? And does he do collabs? I'd LOVE to get his number! Check out my latest song called Frozen Man (by James Taylor)

Thank you :) I think the recording is charming. For me it adds a natural personal sounding experience. Your playing is just lovely. We have a local place called Steamers that we sometimes go and this would fit in perfectly. I really don't know much about Jazz especially the old school classics, but when you can sit down and enjoy good music like this, that's all that matters. pg Check out my latest song called Derelict
