Description
Here's another excerpt from one of our 'Beardsmen' jams. This is a little ditty my cousin had in his back pocket. He plays the first 1:30 of rhythm and after that we exchange back and forth. Steven came up with the riff and we jammed on it for a bit and then I ran and grabbed the H2 to record it. I wanted to remember it for future use in the set list.

I kinda picture a female singer like the lady from The Dead Weather screeching over this. I think the direction of the band is changing a bit from the jazz/jam duo to some groovey/sludgey rock, but I kinda like it.

Just wanted to share and get opinions on the direction the band is taking. I think I need to do a bit more work on getting my guitar to sound a bit more mean and nasty, so if anyone has ideas, lemme know. Right now it's a Swollen Pickle Fuzz pedal and some delay and a flanger run split to two amps. I'm thinking of adding my OD pedal back into the mix to see if that does the trick. Steven uses a wah pedal and I think that helps a lot, I might try that too.

Guitars: Steven DeZort, Brian Bondietti, Drums: Desmond Bird

I've been been too busy with other things to pay back listens for comments, but I promise I'll get back to all the people who comment. Thanks for listening.

Nice jam
I'm having it with my toast this morning. No comment on the band's direction though, nor on how mean and nasty your guitar should be ;-)

If it ain't broke
don't fix it. Focus on the moment, it is where this all comes from. The rest will take care of itself. Don't start thinking about tone or anything else just wrap your thumb around it and go!
Peace

I get really jealous...
...of MacJammers with these cool H2 jams...This reminds me of all sorts of psychedelia, but also of some of the Black Keys...Sounds like you're all into, and right in the moment...Nicely rich-but-gritty tones on the guitars...Yeah, a different mode of recording would probably yield better sound on the drums, but this is still pretty good...And I bet a decent bass player in the room would provide a lot of 'glue', pulling things together and adding warmth...

The band
Isn't it great being in a band. You can hear the way each of you get ideas and explores them as the tune progresses. Love it!

Sludgey lady singers
Yes, I hear that, too. This is fine stuff: you both sound like you're having a lot of fun (which, I think, is kind of the whole point of making music in the first place).
The band Cracker has an uncredited song on their album, "Gentlemen's Blues", 'My Cinderella', that's really choice. I think you should hunt it down; whoever sings it has pipes of steel.

Love,

I'm from Montana. My grandparents on my mother's side were prolific musicians, but I suspect everyone needed something to do in the early 1900's before TV. I inherited their natural genetic talent, but was too distracted by video games and MTV to mak... [see more]
