Lyrics
Audio Murphy – 2011

Well I’m back on the scene, you’ll wonder where I has been,
Guess it’s no real secret but times has got lean,
I talks like a jive cat and tries to keep slim,
But when push comes to shove, guess I’m full to the brim.

Audio Murphy…………. Audio Murphy…………

There’s one like me in every club, - fnar - fnar I loves my dub,
Pitch is hard and complicated, and chords for me sounds much to dated.

Audio Murphy…………. Audio Murphy…………

Musical break on the electric guitar. [using some pitch]

I wrote this song if you can call it that, I wrote this song in twenty minutes flat,
Ipso facto I ain’t no vandal, maybe I’m a genius just like Handel.

There ain’t no landmarks I can tell you, no dynamics, cool and mellow,.
I keep repeating all the time, loops and riffs right down the line.

Audio Murphy…………. Audio Murphy…………

Great sound John!
Even on the PC speakers that bass is rocking. Sort of like a heavy JJ Cale.

Enigmatic lyrics but great fun (nice touch with Handel)

I enjoyed this!

Cheers

Dick

Hello Dick
Thank you, I'm glad you liked it - yes the lyrics, it's a nonsense song loosely based around a ficticious dj/musician called Audio Murphey who has coined his name from the famous actor Audi Murphey and who just activates factory loops and then passes them off as compositions.... it's all done over just one chord except the Handel bit [two measures] as I said - nonsense.

I would say this has a Frank Zappa vibe. The light-hearted lyrics are epic yet again. You always bring a smile to my face with such choice prose.

Enjoying the funking vibes you have created here.

Tokai thank you
It's one of the few instances when I set out to copy an artist so the Zappa feel was deliberate. I have always liked Frank Zappa.

hey john
what did audie murphy ever do to you? this is cool john....one of your best. love the riff....reminds me of a song whose title i never knew but always loved (on some abstract compilation tape). was disappointed it ended so quickly.

thanks mr Hackney
Actually I liked Audie Murphey byt I just couldn't resist modifying the name a little. Sorry about the shortness but I mostly try to keep my posts down to about the 3 minute run - max. I am intending to do a 12" mix special for Christmas.

Fnar Fnar
Is this the first ever instance of those words being put in a line of lyrics?
Echoes of Yello crossed with Morgan Fisher's Hybrid Kids.
Loving the extra guitar and the Handel break.
Glad to have you back with this cracker of a song
thanks for the download
Very much enjoyed
cheers

I'm not sure but I think the first time I came across 'fnar fnar' was in the Viz magazine, I always used to love their exclamations.

I am pleased that you enjoyed it, the guitar used was an old Shaftsbury which although was not a cheap instrument was not a very expensive one either but good enough for what I do.

So d*mn cool!
Great play on Audie's name, super rhyme on vandal/Handel, and simple loop and riffage backer. But my fave is "guess I'm full to the brim" ;-)
Nice one.

Thank you for listening and commenting, I love much of Frank Zappa's music though mainly from the Overnite sensation period. Still can't get on with some of the very early stuff/ Glad you liked it.

Hello Char and thank you
Well you know it's funny, this started out as a bit of a throw away joke poking fun at rap type music but ended up presenting more problems than I would have ever thought. Mind you I often find that my finished products rarely resemble what I had in mind to start with. Thanks again.

Your Best Since...

Scarborough Barbara for me! Been bustin' me brain to remember what this reminds me of (apart from the Frank delivery) and I think it's Low Rider by Funkadelic, maybe? Doesn't matter, brilliant piece of work anyway.

Cheers for the DL. Nice one!

White man rap
I dig your sense of humor, spoof and irony and just plain fun keep you in the groove. Especially the line "chords for me sounds much to dated." I can see the accompanying video to this. Great fun.

many thanks - appreciate the visit - a guitarist I know, recently told me, when asked what his definition of what a passing chord was replied that it was a chord you didn't really need. That is what inspired the line you mention, ha just noticed that I left out an 'o' - as well -me and my spelling!
