Description
Previously unreleased recording I made with Francine DuBois* and the Groove Merchants back in 1940 which was recently discovered in the Tin-Tone Studios vaults by some researcher looking for an old album entitled "The Blob Sings the Hits of Petulia Clark". While we're not there yet, I always think this makes a good song for the New Year. Yup, it's another one of my depressing, self-indulgent weepies again!
Thanks again and hope your week is off to a sensational start!
Michael
* Real name: Esther Cohen.
"Button Up Your Overcoat" was written by Ampico J. Steinway and Samuel G. Foonman
Accompaniment: Some me on the piano, some of a public domain MIDI
Vocal: Junior Samples, Sr.
About this recording: Actually, anytime I use the old record effect it's to cover my infernal sinus problems (this is a Routine #76 for those keeping track of these things)

Lyrics
Button up your overcoat,
When the wind is free,
Take good care of yourself,
You belong to me!
Eat an apple every day,
Get to bed by three,
Oh, take good care of yourself,
You belong to me!
Be careful crossing streets, ooh-ooh,
Cut out sweets, ooh-ooh,
Lay off meat, ooh-ooh,
You'll get a pain and ruin your tum-tum!
Wear your flannel underwear,
When you climb a tree,
Oh, take good care of yourself,
You belong to me!
Button up your overcoat,
When the wind is free,
Oh, take good care of yourself,
You belong to me!
Boop-boop-a-doop!
When you sass a traffic cop,
Use diplomacy;
Just take good care of yourself,
You belong to me!
Beware of frozen ponds, ooh-ooh,
Stocks and bonds, ooh-ooh,
Peroxide blondes, ooh-ooh,
You'll get a pain and ruin your bankroll!
Keep the spoon out of your cup,
When you're drinking tea,
Oh, take good care of yourself,
You belong to me!
When the wind is free,
Take good care of yourself,
You belong to me!
Eat an apple every day,
Get to bed by three,
Oh, take good care of yourself,
You belong to me!
Be careful crossing streets, ooh-ooh,
Cut out sweets, ooh-ooh,
Lay off meat, ooh-ooh,

Is any of the above description for real Michael, or is every word you write just for fun? I wonder if liberties have been taken with the original lyrics coz I'm sure I remember 'em different. No matter, please pass along to the senior Junior that he's done a swell job on this, as usual, in spite of his infernals, and my personal wishes for an absolutely wonderful holiday. Cheers.
