Description

I found this great blues song in one of my music books. I had never heard it, so I played it by sight-reading, and adding my emotions as it went along.

It is a song about Mississippi. I've never been there, so I hope if any of my listeners are from Mississippi they will forgive me if I have not captured the essence of deep south blues.

The song was written in 1917 by Spencer Williams.

	Old School Blues Like this piece very much. Nice piano playing. You give it a nice modern treatment so I would never have guessed it was so old. I hear a little bit of the melody from another old song Stealin in this. I guess all of those old blues melodies got passed around a lot. Check out my latest song called Which Way Is Up?

If you've ever been to Tishomingo...
...you'd definitely get the blues.

As MJ's only Mississippian, as far as I know, and as someone who knows Tishomingo well, I give you a definite thumbs up for this. A great rendition.

BTW, the tune, with different lyrics than the Spencer Williams version, is used as the intro for A Prairie Home Companion.
