Description

I have this xmas been lucky enough to have been given a mandolin as a gift. I received it on boxing day as I had to work the big day. Having never played the thing before, I have made it my new years resolution to learn.

I have enjoyed playing it over the last few days just messing around. This tune sort of came to me the other day and I thought it would be interesting to post something in the first week of playing (brave or stupid I will let you decide!!).

Obviously it is very basic and the recording standard isn't exceptional but this is a bit of fun, and a kind of benchmark to see how I can progress with this thing!

Wait... Mandolins are 4-strings... is this one track? There's a lot going on there. For some reason, this pretty little ditty feels like snow melting away as Spring Green takes over the countryside... maybe it is just the time of year for thinking that. Anyway, I look forward to hearing more mandolin stuff from you... careful, I may send you my mandolin sheet music! ;-)

	well, that's a great gift :-) Always loved the sound of mandolins, never played one. There was a dutch rockband in the 70-s that used mandolins instead of guitars they were called Galaxy-lin. full bodied sound from that Wesley... much better than my old Sigma. Shades of Led Zep's "Battle of Evermore" I heard too. Chords are always fun.. but always a laugh trying to remember the shapes with that violin tuning... what's the action like? Mine sure toughens up the ol' fingers and induces cramping. 	I can relate I picked up a ukulele with a guitar center gift certificate that I got for Christmas. I believe it's tuned the same as a mandolin.
