Description
You might want to lower the volume but now, you can't.(Dec 26, 2012) I think I sang too loud. Ooops!

I wrote the lyrics for some music but they didn't fit the vibe. I then tried a rock beat. I can't make music for it. Maybe, it is destined to die as not quite right. But, you guys are very forgiving so I am putting it here.

Lyrics
He stole my life
He caught my tears
He sold my prayers
Throughout the years
He stole my life
It's very true
But, I'm still here
What'm I to do?
>
Time clicks away
Minute by minute
Life ebbs each day
When you're in it
>
With each new day
That goes nowhere
I stand alone
With none to care
With each new day
No change in sight
I hate the day
Embrace the night
>
Time clicks away
Minute by minute
Life ebbs each day
When you're in it
>
How to begin
After the pain?
How to rebuild;
Rewire the brain?
How to begin
Open up my heart
I don't know how
Where do I start?
>
Time clicks away
Minute by minute
Life ebbs each day
When you're in it
>
And, fools rush in
Without knowing why
Sometimes, they learn
Mostly, they die

This has a lot of potential Char; your vocal here is expressive and actually, you remind me of an updated version of the great old torch singers from eras past; they knew how to put across a song extremely well and you've done so here. Hope this progresses to the next step! Michael

This isn't
a typical a capella, I know. It needs drums, guitars, maybe.. violins. I had a cough and you can hear that. I would re-sing to match music. I don't get to do much rock and that would be such a kick. I hope, too. You are too nice to me. Thank you.

I can hear
a sonorous kettle drum behind this and some type of ticky thingy...that may be a bit cheesy tho'....actually I like cheese especially the blue smelly stuff.....whoops,going off at a tangent there ....this has got legs and somebody should develop it ...so jog on, lets hear the next phase ......

Yes?
Good. Me, too. I'm easy. I'd go for whatever but a crashing wall of sound would make my day. I don't mind cheese. Anything is better than what I can do, which is nothing. Maybe, someone's got something already that might marry well. We'll see. If not, at least, I shared it here so it won't be cluttering up my head anymore. Thanks.

Another way
of saying that I have a big mouth? :) I always sing 3 or 4 feet away from the mic. It didn't sound as loud to me until I heard it here. I was belting too much, I think. And the cough makes it sound a bit gravelly but it is just a demo. You like the words? Gee, thank you. I try.

Blimey Char
that's what they call belting it out.

I'd love to have the time (pun intended!) to put music to this.

Powerful stuff.

Cheers

Dick

Ai,
Dick...that is the nicest thing I've ever heard. I know you are super busy. I cherish the compliment. It could be really smashing, I think. I can hear it but I can't make it. Thank you so much. I'm grateful.

Rewire the brain?
Be nice if we could, wouldn't it? Powerful lyrics Paula; hopefully someone (with real music skills) will do this justice.

You bet.
I've got my little tootsies crossed and sacrificed a prime stash of acorns. Actually, I can't remember where I buried them. There's a plot of tiny oak trees over there, now. Thanks, Richard.

Hey Char, this is, as others have said, very powerful stuff, and I really hope some folks explore a collab with you on this. It would sound sound good in many ways, including, as you suggest, a rock treatment.

The poetry is, on its own, very powerful; a lament with much angst.

What I always appreciate about your music is that it is authentic and emotive, and this is a perfect example. OK, I might be crazy, but I'm hearing an Indian vibe here. Tablas, harmonium, sitar. There is a lot of potential here. Thanks for posting.

Do you want
to try making a backer? I can re-sing to fit. I was hoping some others might have ideas. Thanks.

Hi Char
A great beginning to what may blossom into many ideas. I love that other artists chime in to add their input. I'll add mine. Leave it alone. The captured spirit of this piece is untamed, raw and that is more authentic to me.

I understand.
But, I didn't set this as a flowing a capella but as chunks of lyrics I squashed together. So, I don't think it is finished, not as a song, anyway. It's here, this way. Version two should be a different animal. As I said, I wasn't sure this was worth any treatment but even so, I still hoped someone would want to mess with it. Thank you for the encouragement.

String Quartet?
I'm wondering if a string quartet might be interesting as a backup to this song. There are a lot of ways to go because it is so open and expressive.

I'm so sorry..
I had no idea anyone had been by. Yes, I could hear strings, maybe strident ones. You can mess with it if you like. Thank you.
