Description
I would like to dedicate this song to the great bass singers. Years ago it was a lot popular than it is now.
But ones that are or were popular are:
Paul Robeson

Johnny Cash

:)
I was going to put a frog for the pic but that might a bit too silly :)
I just can't get that high sound that the kids want, my vocal keeps getting deeper and deeper. Especially now that I have a cold it is even worse :)

Swing Low
Of the singers you mention, Paul Robeson has always been my favourite bass singer. I love his version of Ol' Man River. Hadn't heard of Kevin Maynor - just had a listen to his version - very impressive. Back to yours - a wonderful reminder of the style, and all wrapped up in your exquisite guitar playing. Magnificent!

Johnny Cash was
the guy who inspired me to pick up the guitar....when I heard the LP Live at San Quentin....in 1974....I have ever since then tried to play all the bands parts at the same time....and even the drums sometimes 80)...still do ..this is great typical of the singers you recall in the description...it's coming home with me

Cheers

Jarvo

I think a lot of people
think of Johnny Cash when he was older, but I sure was impressed with the bass vocal he did of Swing Low. How high his vocal range while getting a lower sound around all that.

Take a bow, Bill.
I've never heard such a joyous treatment of this song! The picking is full of light and life, sporting an optimism that is infectious.

I've always thought of Old Man River as the popular bass tune, so this was a good reminder of other tunes in that singing range. You sing well sir, and I look forward to your next accompanied song.

Peace,
Doug

Sheesh...
The guitar is beautiful. And wow that bass voice of yours! It's so clear, too! You'd need to smoke a drink a few life times to get a Johnny Cash gravel, but don't! This is cool!

Love this track
Lots of authentic feel, reminds me of Mississippi John Hurt in the guitar department. Wow - just got to that low rich vocal 'ho.........me' note at the end.
