Lyrics
t's a long way from Denver
When I was a mile high
But down here at sea level
that behavior don't seem right
I guess as I got older
Don't want to hurt myself no more
Maybe that horse is out the door
Hard for Mommy and Daddy
Once they saw how I was wired
In their faces disappointment
And I could see that they were tired
Thought I lost their love forever
When I knew I broke their hearts
I turned around and
They were just starting.
A father's son is a precious gift
He'll move mountains for him if he can
A mother holds the highest hopes so dear
But she knows you're just a man
A long way from James Street
Where my heart was melted down
And the first time I saw her
And I acted like a clown
She gave to me a precious gift
When she made my house a home
Since then I've never walked alone
A woman's love is a precious gift
I'll move mountains for her if I can
And I guess the biggest kick I get
Is when she tells me I'm her man
Guaranteed this life will throw you curves
Put you in tight spaces that test your nerves
You want to run but you have to stay
Shaking like a leaf
You get down on your knees and pray
Long way from the first night
That I held you in my arms
World so big and you so small
How could I keep you safe from harm
I cried out to Jesus
Please help me be a man
Turns out you were just the plan
A father's love is a precious gift
I feel it each time I wake
Now I see you standing oh so tall, I'm
Thankful for each breath I take
It's a long way from Denver
when I was a mile high
And now I got my feet on the ground
I can't believe that I survived
I'll take each day as it comes to me
And take the love that I have earned
Taking nothing for granted is what I learned
A father's love is a precious gift
I feel it overtime I wake
When I feel you lying by my side
I'm thankful for each breath I take
I'm a long way from Denver
When I was a mile high
But down here at sea level

Good to see you back at MJ Joe - seems like years. The guitar sounds really good - song does too. There's a bit of fuzziness in the vox - see, I'm still brutally honest :)
All the best for a great 2012 to you and the family.
Cheers from Oz,
Neil
