Futzed with...
Futzed with...
Futzed with ? ...is that even legal? Still if Futzing makes tracks sound like this then maybe it should be in the syllabus of the Royal Academy of Music and your U.S. Counterpart (and Harmony....arf arf)..."Ja,Ja mein Liebling ich habe gefutzed mit meinem Erste Symphonie" as Ludwig Van Beethoven was wont to say often.

Extremely gorgeous piece and the artwork seems to move in symphony (deliberate :combo of sympathy and harmony)with the music......very nice .I shall take a download....see You Later

Geez, I hope it's legal: I do it all the time, and no hairy palms.
I didn't realize that Herr Beethoven was wont to say that so often, and I agree about the syllabus addition, but wouldn't that make the whipped cream go flat? Enjoyed the creative wordsmithing and, please, take as many as you like. Cheers.

Gefutzed..
Chris, you are a hoot. Ludwig, most probably said that "als eine selbstverständlichkeit". I love Google and German is the most awesome language.

Ride the Wave
Very nice ride ! I didn't know that one can ride the wave for such a long time without falling into the foaming water. You did it in a very fancy
way ! :)

Now THIS is interesting music
I can't help but think of Philip Glass here, although you have more energy going on. I like this a lot, and the more I hear it the more I'm drawn in. The contrast of the piano with the continuo piccolo and viola is an interesting choice, as are your harmonic choices. There's more in this piece though and I want to give it a few more listens (on my 2nd now) and come back and say more.

You're on a roll these days Richard (or should that be just riding the wave of creativity?)

Thank you too, Doug. I don't know about rolling (or riding), I think maybe I get lucky sometimes.

Your
piano player has some demons he is working out while the rest of the instruments lighten the mood from obsession to resolve. Extremely compelling and powerful. Thanks.

My piano player IS a demon ;-) but a friendly demon for all that.
Compelling and powerful? Thank YOU.

We're all still learning
I've been really lucky recently in that everything I've listened to on MJ has been very good. It isn't always like that. Someone mentioned Glass, and that's what I'm thinking here. The music suggests progression, and moves like waves. Downloaded for future enjoyment.

Thanks for the visit grah3am. I heard waves too, hence the sub-title. Thanks too for the compliment of downloading: enjoy it in good health.

Dramatic!
There's quite a bit of tension in this music, and I like it. Perhaps a cleansing sunrise after a stormy night. Well done, Richard.

Wave
I like the way that you build the song dynamically, like a wave. I think some light percussion might have accented this nicely, but it stands on its own as a compelling piece. Nice job!

You are much too kind Chris. Thanks for the fine compliments.
Funny, I started out using a lot of percussion, sometimes very complex, but lately I've been doing without.

Trio in Gm
Delightfully energetic piece that captures the excitement of the surf. Almost overpowering buildup of the synth (piccolo?) in the left channel around the 2 min mark - the scale-back allows the listener to take a breath! Surging movement from then and quieter ending all work. Much enjoyed!

Builds nicely
Like Doug, I hear a bit of Philip Glass in the repeated by changing motifs.

An enjoyable ride!

Trio in Gm
Man you are quite prolific these days ... I rode the wave and enjoyed. My only comment or nit is that the instrument on the left side sounded a bit overpowering in the mix and it took away from the repeating piano on the right. Maybe the chosen notes on the left could flow more ... let a note just sustain as the piano is the contrasting aggressor...let the piano roll on. You have to understand I enjoy classical music but don't have the expertise to really comment properly and really can only comment on the mix.
It sounds great Richard!

great ride
having sat through a cocert of Philip Glass at the weekend this is very prevocative of his style. I look forward to where this is taking you. Try to temp yourself to go "mad" and chalange "Structure".

Trio
indeed interesting combo in this song. i was all set to say "the flutes could come up in balance with the piano" but i noticed they slowly faded in. brought some very cool depth and texture in doing that.

Waves
Excellent title. It's really like that (may be not the size of the one in the picture). The waves I see in this are like miniature tides.
I like it is long. There's enough time to get immersed, to get lost and forget everything with eyes fixed on nothing (not a good thing if you are in a Starbucks like I am now ;-)

Awash in sound
This is really nice. Good chord progressions and build up. I've tried a few classical pieces but have yet to finish. Reminds me of Debussy. Nice work! You get a lot of sound out of 3 tracks.

Great futzing! I would recommend putting the lead inst down the middle is all I would say for critique. Assuming the higher voicing are the lead. Nice song!

for the love of futz!
"If these be the notes of futzing, play on!" -- W. Shakespeare

Always late to the party these days... is there still a little cake? Very lush and romantic for just 3 instruments. I might have put the piano in the middle, and the piccolo and viola on each side, they would be a little more distinct from each other. Very nice. And I am off to see what Doug futzed up with this now.

Hi Richard......
I missed this, it would seem. I can only apologise for that. This piece has a lovely movement and build-up. Quite unexpected to me when I first started to listen. (I suppose the energy of the picture you have above the music should have given me some idea)!

I hope you futz with this some more in the future because there is a lot more that can be done to this to make it truly spectacular, in my opinion.

I truly grok this piece.

Take care.
