Ha! I wish I could say through talent, but basically it's using ozone 5 and hours of trial and error. This song was a right bast@rd! I had to cut a great guitar section Ed did, as it didn't seem to fit, and the vocal was done dozens of times to get one take that felt 'live'. I want your voice. There. I said it. And even though your voice is the frosting on most of your tunes, on this tune you've got a lot of upfront vocal and acoustic guitar, so it gets a star turn at points without distraction... You can have it! I've been playing about with this song for months, but must have done over 40 takes on the vocal, and it never felt right. The one here was done about 1pm today.... Dream About Me Steve, this is really nice! Great structure, lyric and melody...all the ingredients are there...really like the dynamics here as well. There is something cool about the Irish accent that appeals to me musically. Dream I think I may have contributed to making this dream a nightmare to mix for Steve. His challenge, which he chose to accept was to mix about 6 guitars during the I'll fated outro.... I'm not surprised it got left in the floor :) I've been lucky enough to hear this tune from it's earliest stages. The first version sounded ace to me but this is on another level. I love the direction the drums and bass have taken and your slightly different approach to the vox. Digging the strings at the end too. I can't recall hearing a tune so clear and balanced here. Only 40 vocal takes!? Well I got you beat in a big way! I just cannot sing so to get anything out at all I usually fill up my disk with audio vocal takes! I've been know to try sometimes 75-100 times to get a good take and for me good is probably most people singing with a severe head and throat cold!
