Description
Going through some of my old stuff that's stored away on an external drive, I listened to this one after not having heard it for years, and I said to myself, "Hey, pretty good!." So, I tweaked it up a little and decided to re-post it. I do so little ambient style these days, that I don't feel too guilty posting an oldie. I know a few of you have heard this already, so apologies. My mixing abilities are still lacking, but so much better than when I first did this one. I have one more oldie that I'm fixing up, and I might post later on.

Thanks for listening, and a callout to Doug Somers for his encouraging words.

Frost and summer
Lovely sounds. Nice development of the theme. There's a brittleness to the sounds that suits the theme, but it's in a gentle bed. Much enjoyed!

Hey, pretty good
It definitely shimmers and it almost sparkles. The choir warms it up a little and keeps it from being TOO frosty.
(Good callout to Doug; he does encourage.)

Frost and Shimmer
Your humility is as shining as your warming and shimmering music even it evokes frost and ice. :)

Hehe
That's exactly how it looks over here at the moment, the first "real" snow is just falling outside my window, and about time too... Accompanied by this sweet music it's not so bad ;-)

I liked this piece in the earlier version, played it five times after downloading according to iTunes, which at least is above average for MJ downloads. And a quick comparison tells me that you HAVE improved your mixing capabilities since then, even if it was from a pretty high level to start with. Very nice and crisp, thank you. I think I'll keep this version too :-)

Take care,
Henke

Ah yes
I think this was the first piece of music I heard from you, those years ago. I still really like it. I shall have to go back and listen to the original to compare. It's a little gem.

Hi Duane.....
I like this mix. It's perfect for the time of year and the illustration.

I'm also glad you revisited it and posted the results. Great work.

I particularly enjoyed the PAD sounds. It's a great PAD and perfect for the rest of the mix on this track.

Take care.

Paul

oooooh
pretty picture. Gosh, I'm already in love with this and I'm only 40 seconds in. What a great opening, I'm loving that synth choice and the improvisational feel of the notes. Have I ever told you that you are one of my favorite artists here at MacJams? Seriously. dig out more old stuff! I have no idea how you make this feel so rich and full with only a few sound layers, but it's amazing. Really beautiful and exactly how the title describes it.

3.5 minutes bathed in aural pleasure
You are the master of pacing, pauses, and evolution in this kind of music. Sure the choice of sounds is great, the melodies and interplay inspired, the beds are to die for, but then you leave silence and stillness in just the right places for just the right durations. That kind of taste is in-born I'm sure, and while maybe can be learned, there is something called real talent at work here.

I'm so glad that you reposted this one - it sounds great to me. Of course my greedy side says 'I want more - make it longer!', but that is not what this piece was about.

Cheers Ex, sorry to be late to the party but I'm glad I came and the stereo was still playing :)

Doug
