Description:
A Valentines gift to the most wonderful woman in the world, my wife. We've been together 20 years as our anniversary comes in March.

I wanted to write something that was her style and flavor but light and fun. I hope I accomplished this as it was an enjoyable piece to write. I thank those individuals who gave me thier feedback from the rough drafts to final production: Alimar, aclark, Mystified, dc....your comments were invaluable.

This is the first mix I've done in Logic Express as well as the first vocals I've laid down myself. Still learning many new tricks as well as trying to strengthen the voice.

Ha...loops used: tambourine, COWBELL!

Lyrics:
When I met you it was plain to me
Life would change eternally
Every time I’d see your smiling face
My heart would melt
Oh, yea yea yea

And that first kiss like Honey on my lips
Warmed me up Shook me down
Shot me to the moon and all around
As my head was spinnin

There’s nothing to sing about
No, nothing to smile about
Without you
No life Apart from you

When I think of all the fun we have
Makin love or foolin around
Smiling every moment of the day
Cause we’re together yea together

And the thought of you sends me to a place
Shakes me up Throws me round
Sends me back and forth to outer space
As my head keeps spinnin

There’s always something to sing about
Oh darlin my heart will shout
Because I’m in love with you

You’re the one yes its plain to see
Always my love you’re apart of me
Every time I see your smiling face I light right up
Oh yea yea yea

And that next kiss
Is honey on my lips
Tear me up Quake me down
Wrap those lovely arms around your man
And keep my head on spinnin

You're a lucky man! &mdash 02/13/05 - 03:15:16 PM
This is going to be your "Get Out Of The Doghouse" pass
for a LONG time! I sense a bit of Clapton in your voice.
Nice composition and hook. Mrs. Synco... you are a lucky
woman!

Well done rock tune and I like the touches of brass.

You and your wife are lucky to have found each other and
stayed together for 20 years.

This came out great &mdash 02/13/05 - 04:17:24 PM
Really like the changes...your voice does sound like
Clapton... music reminiscent of Genesis. Glad you decided
to sing this!
Congrats to you and your wife- 20 years is something
worth singing about!

Kudos!! &mdash 02/13/05 - 10:31:37 PM

The way you brought this from concept to completion and
made those vocals shine!!

Awesome :) Excellent production on this, too!
Keep singing!

And....COWBELL!

Righteous song &mdash 02/14/05 - 04:26:16 PM
That is quite a song. Excellent lyrics. Good vocal attack.
Great instrumentation. I don't like the ending spinning-
panning but I like the concept. It comes as too much of a
contrast to what preceded. If you could make the spinning
slower and more ambient, slowly fading out.

nice energy &mdash 02/15/05 - 11:40:11 AM
the energy is what impressed me most about this tune.
great arrangement and use of textures. had some
unexpected changes that were pleasantly surprising. I
personally wouldn't have put the verses in a minor key but
it does make for a nice juxtapositon against the chorus.

nice energy &mdash 02/16/05 - 11:02:10 AM
Thanks eleven!...I thought about versing in minor but I was digging the
piano/voice contrast so left it. I don't like my progressions to be predictable
so I try new things, striving to keep it musical. The rhythm and
energy.....thanks for noticing! I live for that!

love power &mdash 02/16/05 - 11:03:57 AM
The power of Love shines brightly in this testimony - nice work. I particularly like the horns. I have to agree with the comment that the spin-pan doesn't work as an ending. Maybe if it was used earlier? (There are two other places "my head keeps spinning" is used.) That might set it up better. But I think what I'd prefer as a fade out is more of those wonderful horns.

catchy! &mdash 02/16/05 - 02:49:59 PM
This song hooked me in right away, with its great rhythm
and chords. It's a very upbeat, catchy tune.

The trumpet adds a nice spice to the mix. It's very
realistic-sounding most of the time, with only an
occasional too-short note at the ends of phrases.

Your voice has a very pleasing, expressive quality. It
sounded like it was at the very top of your range in spots,
though.

Excellent lyrics, heart-felt love-song delivered in an
upbeat way. Nice combination!

I truly enjoyed listening to this piece.

Interesting... &mdash 02/21/05 - 07:29:29 PM
I can think of the singer you slightly remind me of, but I
can't place the name... perhaps, a bit of Randy Newman,
but that's not it.

Well done trumpets. Usually MIDI trumpets rub me the
wrong way, but you've got em popping just at the right
level. I get a bit of a Jan Hammer vibe from 'em which is
probably how they work so well as synth. Groovy beat I
dig and I'm sure your wife is proud!

Great orchestration! &mdash 02/22/05 - 01:58:42 AM
What a rich and colourful sound. Love your arrangements.
Drum parts are real nice. How did you get such a great
horn sound? Well done.

Great orchestration! &mdash 03/01/05 - 11:54:42 AM
Thanks very much Nolan. The trumpet is a sampled sound from my
Clavinova. I've got some really rich sounds available there and of course I use
Logic which has many plug ins to enhance. It still has just a tad of synth on
the short notes...maybe if I got the latest Clavinova the polophony is
higher....although mine's at 192. I think the new ones cost as much as a car
though. :)

Cool Synco &mdash 02/22/05 - 03:43:50 PM
Bet she liked it...women make us do crazy things don't
they?

Good tune man...solid.

Keep jammin'

Just the right arrangement &mdash 02/22/05 - 04:07:42 PM
Not bad at all, Synco. I also hear Randy Newman and
Clapton in your singing.

Polished drums. Real nice. Especially the cowbell.

There's some Steve Winwood in the synth leads in this too.

Try double tracking the vocals and add reverb to one of
them. Then lower the volume of both. It will warm them
up a bit.
