Description
Rewrite of a song I put up here a while back called "What You Need". Here's a piano demo done in a studio. I wrote the song all myself and helped produce it. Piano was done by Tristan Noon and mixing by Daniel Martin. What do y'all think of the song itself? I'm 16 by the way :)

Lyrics
Oh what a shame that he never came
Didn’t see the way she cried that day
Haunted tears rolled down her sweet face
As she whispered through the rain

“Am I pretty yet?
Do you want me now?
I’m so tired and it’s dark
Should I keep holding out?
Am I pretty yet?
Can you see me now?
I’ll keep waiting out here
Hope you come around”

She got home that December night
Left alone in the faded light
And for one painful moment she thought through it all
So naive, thought she’d never fall

“Am I pretty yet?
Do you want me now?
I’m so tired and it’s dark
Should I keep holding out?
Am I pretty yet?
Can you see me now?
I’ll keep waiting out here
Hope you come around”
They found a girl all dressed up in white
Ribbon in her hair, lifeless eyes
Just skin and bones lying in a bed
And in her hand was a note that said:

“Am I pretty yet?
Do you want me now?
I’m so tired and it’s dark
Should I keep holding out
Am I pretty yet?
Can you see me now?
I was waiting out here
But you let me down”

Amazing song
but too freakin' sad. I'm almost glad I can't download a copy because I would probably cry when it came up in rotation on my iPod. I don't know why you think this is C&W but, whatever. The piano and mixing are very good, and the vocal is too, but the lyrics are wicked.

Nice flow to the song - sad lyrics that pick up on image issues that often affect young women in our society. Light breathy vocal suits the song. Good backing - just enough to support the song without getting in the way. Good work at any level - especially impressive given your age!

Very Nice Tune.....
It saying a lot about who you are, in the singular person but there are
many that feel the same way you do...
That old up right piano gives it a honkytonk sound that's not doing you great voice justice even though it is a great song.....
Don't stop it a long road, but with your talent there are things HE wants
you to write and sing......

I like this a lot. Touching lyric and vocal performance. Simple piano/strings arrangement works perfectly. Might call this Contemporary Folk as opposed to Country, but that squabble doesn't matter. It's good and that's what counts. Hope you'll keep on writing and singing.

I really like the piano and the songwriting is great too. Keep focused on the music and you will have something that last a life long. Looking forward to hear more.

Am I Pretty Yet?
Great hook which many will relate to. Good story telling in the verses which build to the chorus nicely. Strong vocal & melody reminiscent of Taylor Swift.
