Bright
This is a very bright, lively piece, with enough minor
chords (and that Segovia section) to keep things
interesting.

My only suggestions are in the production (and I am no
expert). But I feel like there is some room noise in this
recording, and that the mic is placed far away from your
guitar. Is it? I would be like to hear this with more
presence--closer to the guitar--and less reverb. A truer
recording, I guess.

But as always, Bill, excellent fingers.

Bright
Thanks Tom

Ya, I was told at the local music store were I live, if I have to play some hard
strumming cords mixed in with my leads that I should get the mic back as far
as 3 feet. So I might have to make some tweaks to adjust for the mic being
back.

Thanks for stopping by.

Well Crafted
Good combination of classical with that English folk
sound. I really liked the parts where you used an open
string as a drone as you played the melody. I do agree mic
was maybe a little far away.

I might have to try to get a little closer to the mic.
I just have to make sure I don't peak.

Thanks for posting and the compliment.

Interesting Piece
Nice pace and lots happening here. I liked your
performance of it too. I like how you`ve kept
the mood of this piece ambiguous throughout - it
adds to the tension - I agree with the criticisms about
the distance of the mic. Not that I know how to balance
that against the problems of peaking.

Bright, solid playing and...
I like the picture, too. The room reverb sounds a little dated, perhaps because it's so bright. You could try hanging quilts around the recording area to deaden some of the surfaces if you want to change that. Mic'ing at 3 feet is sort of far, you might try a little closer and when you get to a loud passage shift your position slightly to have the sound not hit the mic directly. Just some suggestions for recording.

To: Jim

Ya, a little movement with the twist of my body. I am so crowded in my
computer room were I record, I have to be careful that I don't hit a table. I've
don't that too. I've really gotten into a tune half way through only to hit my
glass computer table during the recording. "Clank", then I have to start again
:(
Thanks

Asturias!
I have always loved that melody by Alb'eniz, just as I love
Classical Gas, and many others that you sneak into these
works of yours... masterfully played! ALthough now I'm
wishing I could hear you play Asturias as-is, all the way
through, I bet you could make it drip with romance and
fire. Anyway, great playing, expertly interwoven melodies
and styles, fun to listen to, and yah, a little too much
reverb, but not too bad. Faved!

Yes, I used to play that tune allot, but that was years and years ago.
There isn't much that is related to that tune but there are a few notes that
could be similar. I go in a lot of different directions other than that bee
concept that tune is famous for. But that is the closest thing I can think of
that had a bee feeling.
There is also some new-age influences. To maintain some newer sound ideas
I threw in bit of Micheal Hedges influence. Though not one note is copied
from him, but I know he liked to use thick rhythmic cord changes and
harmonic combinations in some of his solos.

Thanks for the post.

Bill,

Have you checked out any of John Fahey's music yet?

Curiously,

Excellent performance. I kind of like the chamber room
feel, highlighting your live chops; but I can understand
people wanting the sound closer, more intimate. Great
articulations and nice dance feel. Like a bee in spring.
Wonderful lightness.

Your playing is inspiring. I love the chords & harmonics.
Listened on my Bose headphones...nothing like having a
