Description
This tune started out with me listening to one of TvRicky’s tracks, called “Be Bop Groove”. I’d commented on the groove it sat in and how I’d like to play over the top of it . TvRicky was happy for this to happen, so I got started. I put a Cm blues progression over it with chords on the left and right channels and a lead in the middle. I added a bass line, using TvRicky’s bass as a guide, so that there was a bass that followed the chords.
While this was going on, TvRicky uploaded a new track called “Zip Avenue’s Cool”. I liked this one, too and wondered if that might work better than the first track. So I imported it into what I had already done.
Then I thought that in fact they sounded good together, so placed one to the left and the other to the right. In the new track there were other instruments zipping in and out and I thought the chord progression I’d put down was now pushing everything into the “way too busy” category, so I redid the parts with simpler, more spacious chords to give some more room for the other things that were going on.
I ran all this past TvRicky who was happy for me to post the results, so here they are. I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed playing it! And thanks again to TvRicky for allowing me to do what I’ve done to his fabulous music!
The artwork is Pablo Picasso’s “Three Musicians”.
