Lyrics
Caress the gentle flowing of your hair
Heartbeat quickens as our thoughts slowly subside
Your touch meets with mine, together we ignite
The world was conceived to make this moment just for us tonight

We belong
We are one
We combine
We are sound and we are silence
Our souls hum in resonance

Space between is ever moving, never stationary
Blur the line of flesh that once divided you and me
Ecstatic breath our senses mesh and we become the beat
Tonight in this moment the whole world we will conceive

We belong
We are one
We entwine
We are love and we are grace
Our souls hum in resonance

We give life

nice intro, the acoustic chords in the verse really sound good and well executed. vocals and harmonies work well. the chorus has a strong 70's feel. i would have gone for a fatter lead tone but the notes chosen work really well for the song. cheers graham

Guitar Tones
Thanks for the feedback. What kind of guitar tone would you have used? This is GB's Orange model ("Sunshine Drive") cranked up to 8... I could mess around with some Mesa or Marshall mods, since the signal is recorded dry. I dig the 70's harmony feel critique - what bands do you imagine using this kind of harmony? I struggled with the "Sounds Like" aspect of the submission process. My brother said it reminded him of Smashing Pumpkins (likely the intro guitars) but I'm too into the tune to hear it objectively.

Harmonies
Thanks for the good thoughts - I added the harmonies when I realized the chorus needed something
"more" than just the bells to make them stand out. Glad you liked it.

Dave
I particularly like the harmony sections you've done here, and the music is well written and performed. The mix sounds like it could have been improved using something like Ozone to give it a bit more depth and sparkle - not a nit, just something that could lift the strength of the song's production. Ozone is definitely worth chasing up if you plan on becoming addicted to home recording like I have become :)
Cheers,
N

Ozone
Thanks for the comments. I'll check out Ozone - I see they offer a 50% discount for education purchasers, which might make it doable. Thanks for the advice.

Fine voice
especially in the higher registers.. warm long notes, fine harmony work. Some mix nits: eg. I personally think the problem with the guitar solo mix is not really the tone.. but its a bit too central in the mix.. I would have spread it a bit in the mix. I would also drop the acoustic guitar a notch or too in the verses .. to let the vocals carry more weight. (I too make this judgement call as primarily a guitarist.. I like hearing my guitar parts as reference points.. but sometimes it can get a bit cluttered and should take a back-seat at time in the arrangement). I would echo the comment about checking out some fine polishing mastering sw like Ozone.. I think you'ld love the results on these sort of already very well recorded productions. Well done Dave.

Hmm...
Thanks for the good comments - I will mess aroun with the mix and see if I can clarify it. One thing that makes a difference, 16 ms. into the solo, the bass is gone, accidentally replaced with an acoustic overdub... When I fix that, it should clarify the end quite a bit.
