"No wonder kids grow up crazy. A cat's cradle is nothing but a bunch of X's between somebody's hands, and little kids look and look and look at all those X's..."

"And?"

"No damn cat, and no damn cradle."

I knew I would like it even before I pushed play. What are you using for drums? I really like the sound of the snare on that back beat. Man this song rocks ... love the trippy vocalization ... great playing, great composition and a great mix!

Hi Stan
I use penciled-in Addictive Drums for all my stuff these days. This particular drum track has a few cosmetic touches --- doubled, delayed kick in a few sections, two snare drums in a few sections, some additional cymbals using one of the kits in Logic, EQ off the top end, and an Ozone 3 preset to tighten the bottom. I enjoy working on drums, since I have realized that I am a wannabe drummer. Thanks for the nice words.

Hey Vic
I realize that most people read Cradle when they're much younger, but I don't see how they can "get it." I waited until just recently and it knocked me out. This piece of noise was inspired by the book only in the sense that I worked on the music while my head was still buzzing with having just read the book. I appreciate your dropping by.

Cradle
this is the year or music/authors it seems. about a month ago, i collabed w/someone on another site that wanted me to write lyrics based on Orwell's Animal Farm. now here i see Vonnegut. since i love both music and writing, this is completely cool to me.
i can hear Felix's innocence and apathy, Jack's detailed modeling, Mona's sybolization, even Julian's philosophies. How'd you do that? excellent musical capture, Les.

hey, you think i could borrow Some Guys sometimes? i could use some extra 'heying' occasionally.
Check out my latest song called House Terrace w/Yomar

Orwell
I will have to hear that, Sam. Well, you seem to know the novel very well. If you think I managed to actually capture it, then I must have done something right, because I wasn't actually trying that hard to convey the novel. I read it, and this music was the next thing I made up in the afterglow, so I guess it was an inspiration on some level. By the way, Some Guys are ecstatic about your request. When I mentioned it to them, they said, in perfect unison, "HEY!"

is so damn good. i wonder how this madness and intensity flows from such a seemingly mild mannered man. perhaps "seemingly' is the operative word in that statement. do you change into a costume as you're writing this stuff?

in all seriousness, this rocks hard, which is about the highest compliment i know of. plus it's the perfect length of time. nice one, les.

Hahaha ... I mean .... buahahaha (twirls the imaginary mustache). You're completely wrong about this. I cranked this one out while my cape was in the cleaners getting a thorough blood-n-guts treatment. Anyway, for my next one, I will have my cape and mask, and I'm planning to go on the dark side ... buahahaha ... oh, I already said that. Anyway, I'm pleased that you found this simple little exercise to be to your liking. Thanks, man!

Metal prog... Liking the heavy guit riffs and the drive of the drums. Timing hiccups keep you on your toes. Some Guys did a fine job bringing a human element to the machine :-) Esoteric but accesible. Thanks, Peter.

The machine
Ya know, I though about that for a bit. My stuff is a bit mechanical. Hmmm ... maybe I should ... nah ... I like it that way. Anyway, it reminds me of how diverse the musical tastes and musical offerings are on the site, and I believe that is a real strength of MJ. Thanks for the nice words, Peter.

Some Guys
have all the talent. I love Vonnegut and I love Les Kloo. What a trip! It reminds me of the Twilight Zone story where the little girl fell into another dimension which was probably a rip off of Alice in Wonderland. I'd love to listen to this in a planetarium while one of those hokey Trip Through a Blackhole videos played on the ceiling. Amazing stuff. Loved it. Thanks.

Some Guys are extremely talented, if a little one-dimensional. Speaking of dimensions, "Little Girl Lost" is the episode --- poor little Tina, and the clever physicist who drew a chalk outline on the wall to mark the entry way into the 4th dimension. Yep, that was a good one. My creepy kid could have been Tina. Thanks once again for your imaginative and insightful comments, Char.
