Description
This is No. 65 in my BY THE NUMBERS collection of piano miniatures. When I wrote this about two weeks ago, the thought occurred to me that if a waltz could be in 4/4 time, this is maybe what it might sound like. In any event, it's only 2 minutes long, so you might enjoy giving it a listen. ... The piano score can be found at my website if you are interested is seeing what this looks like...or even in playing it yourself. (http://www.paulpage.org/Paul_Page_Music/By_The_Numbers.html)

Lovely to listen to.
And interesting to listen to as well! It has some of the feel of a waltz, yes, in spite of not having 3/4 timing. Strange.

A 4/4 waltz?
An intriguing concept Paul that works very well.

I get elements of vaudeville and silent movies.

Wonderful work :)

Very enjoyable listen
Interesting idea, Paul. And very well executed, as always. Great photo! 4/4 waltz just requires some faux steps adjustments. Or three legs :-) Very enjoyable listen. Thanks, Peter.

If Bears Could Waltz
A waltz in 4/4? Then I listened and heard it for myself. This does have that swaying effect a good piano waltz has. There's also some phrases that made me think this could also be transformed into a ragtime piece. There's a few Joplin type phrases. As always, lovely work Paul.

Salon music
It's lovely, elegant, and charming! Clever too… So much of your music has these qualities that I suspect they are at the core of who you are.

I'm not sure about the waltz part, but definitely dance like, possibly involving bears… Interesting that your title here differs from the title on your website… Not sure if you do what I do sometimes, which is try different titles on for size, then live with them for a while until you see which one sticks?

Lovely salon music!

Beautiful
An enchanting tune played with a lovely touch - precise and with plenty of light and shade. Delightful melody, too. A gem, Paul.

Now that's some very
nice ivory tinkling right there, and those bears are absolutely delightful....though it probably will end in tears !! Unlike tis fine little ...WALTZ !! in 4/4.... crivens...but it does seem to work...and as ABass says it is just about ready to tip over into a ragtime....of which Joplin's were mostly 2-steps (I will stand a correction lecture on that point if wrong ,but most of my SJ scores have that on them)so double it up and add one ....I am burbling now aren't I ....away to the funny farm ...........very nice pleasurable listening...

Paul,
You are a wonderful composer (and performer) of music for the piano. Every piece is so expressive and full and so perfectly mated to the instrument. This one is a delight.
