Two Minute Waltz

Close on the heels of If Bears Could Waltz comes The Two Minute Waltz, actually No. 62 from my collection of miniatures By The Numbers (score is here: http://www.paulpage.org/Paul_Page_Music/By_The_Numbers.html). A possible subtitle might be Dancing Cows, though there is no logical reason for it ... A waltz that starts with a decidedly non-waltz-ish prelude and then devolves into what Composer Clark aptly describes as a "salon" tune: short for 19th century elevator music. My long-ago compatriot Fred Chopin is, no doubt, cringing at the thought. And yet the pain will be over in almost exactly two minutes. Surely you can stand that much.

Dancing cows
Are you having your own waltz challenge, Paul? 4/4 waltzes, 2 minute jazz infused waltzes. What's next? :-) I like this piece. To my untrained ear, it incorporates contemporary styles (a touch of jazz?) within the waltz structure. Can't wait to hear what comes next. Thanks, Peter.

Fred would be proud of this.

He was a bit of an innovator himself and I'm he sure he would appreciate what you've done with the waltz.

Elevator music? I might be more inclined to use them if the music was this good!

Perhaps those that know better do cringe. Those of us that just listen and love, do just that. The gentle orchestration is just right. One might describe your music a lovely with a catch. There is always some clever little turn somewhere in the music that delights.

Very Good
Very well done Paul. The performance and production are excellent and I appreciate the bluesy feel to the melody. I agree that the stings laying in the background are very well place and add to the song instead of detracting from it.
