Description
This song is my tribute to my grandfather who I loved dearly and still think of him even though he's been gone from this world for quite some time. He was a polish immigrant and worked his farm for most of his life. He never really learned to speak english very well because his family did most of the speaking for him. He just stayed on the farm and worked the fields and orchards. When I was a boy I grew up in the city of Toronto and every summer or break my folks would drive the hour and a half and drop me off and leave me. I think they just wanted a break from my crazy ways. I would be left with my cheap sears guitar and some paints and brushes and my grandparents. I spent a lot of time alone or riding the fields with my grandfather on the tractor. We really never could communicate that well but there was a deep silent connection. He had the biggest influence on who I became as a person.
I asked my friend Bob Bassett to play his hammered dulcimer and I mimicked the riff with my acoustic. The drum beat during the first few bars is me playing the back of the guitar with my hands. The other percussion is an old drum machine but I like the dated sound. Anyways, thanks for listening. I know I have been posting a lot of tunes but I will give you all a break after this one.
