Lyrics:
YOU MAKE A PERFECT STATUE

Girl you make a perfect statue
Stationed in the yard
Frozen water fountain people
They all see you now

You know that I have loved you
loved you standing there
Staring through the streaming rain
Running through your hair

Spinning in the open wind
You catch the wayward leaves
Hang your poems on the branches
Put one there for me

I’d put my finger on you
But the living tend to stare
Wander over after sunset
Toss your coins in here

If I had a poem to write
I’d bring it here to you tonight
Set it near the running water
And read it in the firelight

Girl you make a perfect statue
Standing there so right
Let’s combine the floodgates
And open them tonight

I like this song very much &mdash 02/20/05 - 08:59:27 AM
To me it's like running into a precious gem.

I wish you would write about what guitar you play, doesn't
have to be too much but that would be nice.
You are getting a higher score than what's up there from
me. Sorry you have not received more action from others.

Because you are deserving of much more for this tune.

Thanks to everyone for the very encouraging comments.

I've been using a Fender acoustic cutaway body with inboard pickup and three
channel equalizer. It was a mid-priced baby as I recall, around $500.00. On
this rare ocassion I actually used a capo for the recording

Very nice &mdash 02/20/05 - 10:56:06 AM
I agree with thetiler... don't understand why this song is
not getting more attention. Perhaps it's a matter of
category selection... I feel this is much more a folk song
than Indie/ Alternative.

This is a beautifully written and performed song. Very
lyrically pleasing as well.

Lovely! &mdash 02/20/05 - 04:44:14 PM
Cool song, musically and lyrically.

(Erm, a plop shield for your microphone would be a big
improvement.)

Other than that, perfect little composition, charming
lyrics, instrumentally very nicely done.

(Ok, I would have left out the strings, they don't
contribute much, and in fact seem to double other parts.)

Trust me, basically I really like this. Just can't help making
helpful comments :-)

We absolutely agree with your comment about the plop screen. We've got
one now! So is there any way to salvage the vocal - - I think it's quite nice
except for the 'plosives.'

... instrumentation which works perfectly against your
voice. Great stuff.
