Description
A little escapism here! I went boating along the River Stour in Dedham Vale last summer, and being more of a canal than a stream, there was no current, and it was very serene and easy. I try to convey some of the sense of the experience. Cast off and dream away.....;-)

Hi Freddy!
Thanks for stopping by! I think this could be a karaoke hit, what do you think?

No problem about the misspelling. Get it all the time!

refreshing
I got lost in this, the way you build on the guitar first with a flute then the horns great ride!

Lovely.
When I was involved in singing this in a round in first grade, I put my hands over my ears so I wouldn't mess up. Of course, everyone but me stopped singing on cue. An embarrassment that haunted me for a couple hours. I was a kid. I got over it. Now, I'm going to have an anxiety about that instead the test dreams I usually have. Crap! ;)

Hope
the tune helps you cope with such an uncomfortable memory!

Musical embarrassments are too numerous for me to remember ;-)

Thanks for listening

Nice picking. Flute sounds especially good on top. Soft vocals add to the mood.

Very gentle and paddly inspiring
I want to get out on my kayak now !!

Nicely built, the horns don't quite work for me.....I know where you are coming from.......if it was a midi keyboard you were using I would have used "brass ensemble"and made it sound like a Yorkshire Brass Band....or perhaps double the horn up with a trombone and a french horn...not a crit just a suggestion.....or shoot me ...it's an alternative.

Hi Jarvoid!
Thanks for listening.

i take your point about the brass. i could have made it a bit more fun with a full brass section. It was a real sort of mess around rather than proper design. i kept adding bassoons and what not without any plan as such and just left it when i thought it sounded OK.

Thanks for the comment.

You certainly captured the serenity of the picture and your experience. This is a real nice take on a song most of us are familiar with. I like how you added just a hint of sadness to parts of it (at least that's how I interpreted it). Well done.

Thank you again

Gentle and relaxing tune. The instrumentation is good - I like the way you build things up as the tune progresses. I don't get on the water much, but I do remember singing the song as a round at Primary School! Beautiful!

Thanks, man!
Glad you enjoyed it.

Must get out more on the water myself. i fancy the old canals, but i need a nimble first mate!

Cheers now

Night before Thanksgiving here
been cooking and cleaning all day to get ahead of the crowd coming over tomorrow for dinner. Decided to take a break while my wife does the pies. Stumbled on your forum post and landed here. So glad I did. Just what I needed really. Well conceived and nicely executed.
