Not sure what to google for
This is 12 recorder tracks, each looped through an EH Freeze, and then individually faded to get the shifting texture.

Sound that takes me in
I'm unsure what the name for an aural mantra would be - but that's what this is to me.

unfinished lullaby
i noticed you mentioned the eh freeze... one interesting effect unit, seems from what i've seen on their web site should be some fun experimenting around with.

cool pad like approach vic

Freeze
The freeze introduces an interesting effect on the recorder, a bit like flanging. It was clearly not designed for instruments that already sustain by themselves.

I've used it before, a tad more organic sounding: http://www.macjams.com/song/70306

The pad approach is partly inspired by 10CC's "I'm not in love". They recorded endless looping vocals, then "played" those by riding the faders. I always thought that was a cool approach. Here I'm just using it to shift the texture from the low recorders to high.

The story
Ok, months ago someone (and you can figure it out from the comments) asked me to collaborate on a tune that was based on "twinkle twinkle", and that collaboration was never finished/posted. So that's the title. The specific tune ended with a long piano chord, like "day in the life". I enhanced that by putting a shifting overtone haze on top of that. Which I now decided to post on its own.

I enjoy the breadth...
...of your experimentation, Vic... You can hew to the traditional and the composed with great fidelity when you've a mind to, and then you can take this along on interesting extrapolations at other times...
