Kawaiku
of course, the brass makes this song in the beginning. but the absolute beauty startes ~1:35. from there it didn't let up. this is a Daug top 5 favorite.

Hello Sam
That section holds a lot of the meaning. It took forever to get that strange distance. Thanks for stopping by... nothing cute!

Kawaii
To me this has all the edgy contrasts one expects to hear in the Daug House. So much comes in - it's sort of like a scientist adding a range of elements from a test tube and watching them bubble in the new mix. Mesmerising music.

Hello Philip
Another devotee, thanks for stopping. This came about because I was listening to some Japanese pop music online radio. How does Hello Kitty relate to the trappings of the Allman Brothers? The idea of the Kawaii culture as it presents itself in our western consciousness became a journey. This thing represents the findings. Kawaii appears to stem from the advent of the era of artificial hormones in Japan? Very different from the western gals? Takes awhile to get there... but the distance from the traditional sounds noted by Mr. Sam above marks a statement not heard elsewhere, accurate or not... there it is.

Hey G!
The melody and harmony are not yer normal fare. The organizing scale is demonstrated clearly twice at the point Sam noted. The instrumentation is unusual... acoustic guitar, Stick and horns? The pulse is weird the thing undulates... ripples, in a strange way. Almost no reverb either... bizarre. As if the Theater of Cruelty was brought to your cursor as it struggles to understand how the iconography of Hello Kitty and the Allman Brother's can be casually united in Japan and then in the west as an expression of the new found reproductive freedom achieved via artificial hormones.

Hello Erin
I'll get the phat head this way:) When they say, "This sucks," and pretend to ignoring the content, that is still encouraging in it's own way. Nice to hear you dig the thing... hey, I kinda finished with it :)

Don't know
how you ever construct something as imaginative and complex as this. All sorts of elements working here that sounds really dense but interesting and not at all discordant.

Will have to listen to it again. Like a fairground, full of lights and flashes and grins and grimaces that are only partly understood, slightly menacing perhaps at times, but always arresting.

Pubescent Japanese girls of any gender or age will find the Daug House a difficult place to hang out. But perhaps this is a good thing. That trippy scale turns the zeitgeist on its head.

round about Wakajawaka?

Great stuff with those horns. I like your information-heavy approach to composition. Which means that somewhere halfway I lost interest, because it's mostly drums with some pad in the background.

Hello Vic
Thanks for stopping by here! About halfway is the real fun Vic... I'll explain, there is an arrangement for strings, which I assume you are calling a pad, supporting a melody played on a Pacifica MS1221 guitar with a ton of distortion on it, this is related through the smallest speaker I could create in the stereo field. This setting is a nod to Japanese traditional folk music and is rendered in the same near tonality as first setting, it's just a long way away. Which is part of the point I was trying to make. You need to get more rest. I am glad you enjoyed the horns. That section of horn stuff was a sassy teenage girl... hard to manage... but you got that part. Always nice to get an oblique reference to Zappa, as usual, the cited collection of tunes has nothing to do with this composition. See you next time... I promise, something with drive, you will not sleep...

My Japanese is bad. If I understand correctly, you enjoyed the song. Your comment is also that the thing is cute. Which is not consistent with my creative effort, but if that's how you see it, okay!

this is really deep, a lot going on. love the horns for sure, the rhythms and the overall strangeness is very refreshing. the quick fade at the end was my only quibble (you left me high and dry at that point). nicely done.

Daug ... this is so good. The intro brass arrangement is well done. I love what happens at about 1:35. Great drum track under the synth stuff.
Cool tune... no guitar? The ending could fade longer. Loved it .

it'd be cool to hear a really quirky rapper like Edan spit over this. It's a very well composed piece -- controlled chaos.
