Description
I took tabla lessons from Dr. Amarjit Singh of The University of New Dehli. He also gave me Indian Guitar Lessons. This was his improvisation number one for guitar. He played it on the harmonium so I could learn it. In this recording I play the tabla and the guitar. It begins with the mixed version of guitar, tabla, and raagini digital tanpura while a picture of me is shown looking out a window. The movie is followed by films of me laying the tabla track and the guitar track. The movie is embedded in my profile.

Love
the expansive spirituality of the slower Indian sitar numbers.

A little short, i would say. Disappointed that it ended so soon. More!

Thanks,
Yes, a bit short. I had actually planned that because the final mix was part of a movie that shows the recording of the tabla, and the recording of the guitar, so the movie came out, hopefully not to long, or too short. Hopefully I will enlarge the work, and post the audio later to macjams. I need to study and practice, more taba for that.

Now that's something you don't hear around these parts very often. Great recording and so nice to hear authentic ethnic instruments!

Thanks,...
I am happy you like this kind of music. I was the teacher's only non-indian student in the room learning this stuff. I love Indian music, but I am concerned that I rarely meet a non-indian musician of Indian music in these parts. My pleasure to play for you!!!

You and
the Dr. played well together. It is relaxing and also conducive to meditation. That might be the whole point. I enjoyed it.

Thanks,...
Meditation is actually exactly what I had in mind!!! As there are many schools of Indian music, romantic, temple,... I felt I most wanted to play for people perhaps meditating in a yoga class.
