Description
Back in May when Jerry and I recorded his tune "I Don't Want to Hear" he told me he once wrote a country song. I got back out the field recorder to capture his vocal. He told me to unpack my guitar to accompany him. He couldn't remember all the verses. So we captured what we could. Given his health at the time I assumed we would never have the chance to do a proper production of the song. But then, quite out of the blue, Jerry emailed me the following week wanting to record more. Great! If he was up to it I sure was. A few days later I packed up my laptop and USB mic and took another ride south to see him at the hospice.
Luckily Jerry had an mp3 of an old analog recording he had done of this song years earlier. We transcribed out his lyrics, I did a quick scratch guitar to a click track, and then we were ready for Jerry to track lead and background vocals. The next step was to organize a band. Anybody who's hung around here knows you don't have to look hard to find amazing musicians to play with. I've done several tracks with John, Scott, and Stan. They always come through with incredible tracks. This one also created the opportunity to make it a family affair. Once again my son, Ryan, held down the bass while his grandfather (and my father), George contributed steel guitar.
Thank you Jerry for letting me work with you on this wonderful song. Thank you John, Scott, Stan, Ryan, and Dad. Music is so much better when played by a great band of good friends!

Lyrics
There'll Be No Loving"
words & music by Jerry Quinn
You knew exactly what to do,
How sad I'd be here without you,
There'd be no time for long goodbyes,
There'd be no need for telling lies,
I'm wondering what did I do wrong,
Seems I've loved you for so long,
There'll be no laughter in this song,
There'd be no loving when your gone,
Now leaves are falling to the ground,
The life that's left them turns them brown,
I watch them fall they make no sound,
Just like me when you're not around,
I'm wondering what did I do wrong,
Seems I've loved you for so long,
There'll be no laughter in my song,
There'll be no loving when your gone,
I think I hope you're doing well,
But don't ask me cause I can't tell,
I do my best to act the same,
But I break down hearing your name,
I'm wondering what did I do wrong,
Seems I've loved you for so long,
There'll be no laughter in my song,
And there'll be no loving when your gone,
Maybe someday you'll come back home,
And you'll find me living here alone,
I'll be here like I've always been,
Hoping you'd come back home again,
Still wondering what did I do wrong,
Seems I've loved you for so long,
There'll be no laughter in my song,
There'll be no loving when your gone,
There'll be no laughter in my song,
There'll be no loving when your gone,
