Description
I played a gig with Airport Seven back in May at the old Coney Island Sideshow pictured above. We played on the stage where the freak acts used to (and still do) perform. The space was dark and empty when we started playing - then people started drifting in from the bar out front. This is a recording of that opening section manipulated in post with some double tracked delayed bits and a drone created from a section of the very beginning. No new sound was added to the original recording. It fades out before we go into an actual song. The voice you faintly hear is Steve our drummer asking if we were indeed starting. He walked in a while after John and I started on bass and guitar respectively.

Spooky
Has a sense of anticipation and a hint of bad things about to happen - which I hope isn't a reflection on your later set :-) Fascinating sounds - I can understand how they would draw people in. Enjoyable listening.

Thanks Philip
I think we're better at anticipation than delivery. That's the next step. lol

Cool stuff
Which is nice to hear now we suddenly got such hot weather here in Stockholm. Pretty awesome too if you actually do this with "just" bass, guitar and drums (and a lot of pedals ;-) !

Thanks and take care,
Henke

Yeah - it's a lot of pedals
John is playing what sounds like organ or calliope on his bass using a ring modulator. I use eBow and bits of metal and alligator clips along with a sampler to create my stuff. Steve just plays the drums - and how. Thanks for the listen and comment.

M favorite Tangerine Dream
is the work they did on The Sorcerer movie. I appreciate the comparison.

Just a lot of pedals?
Yeah, right. But you guys know how to use them to build impossible surreal soundscapes like this.
The thing I admire the most is how you get out and start improvising without net.

Joh does grea things with his bass
like that kettle drum sound. I'm a little less adventurous - but enjoy the eBow and looper. Our favorite scenario is where the DJ is still spinning while we begin and slowly fades out to find us in the background.

we're working up to being able to stay in the improv zone for 30 minutes without it becoming tedious and embarrassing. I'd love to have a fourth member who samples and treats our work live - sort of doing what I did here to add another layer to the experience.
