So I wanted to wait until all the submissions were off and being marked before I uploaded this - can't trust anyone these days!
I wanted to share this with you guys because it's the only project of mine up here that is entirely audio recording - no midi. The coursework was for my A level Music Technology in which one of the pieces was to record a cover of a popular mainstream track (since it's an exam project, I'm sure I can duck under the cover rules and what not!). So I'm sure you're all familiar with the track since we've all had it drip fed through every radio station every day for the last few months, so sorry for putting you through it all again. Equipment for recording is interesting - we had iMac on 10.7, enough mics for a circus juggler and a decent studio space. Only problem is most of the XLRs were faulty, Pro Tools kept crashing and corrupting, the ProjectMix died every ten minutes and nothing got sorted until two weeks before the deadline.
That said, here's the best I could do. It's DI'd except for the vocals, bass and drums, and the strings were recorded with 2 TRS cables running through the wall from the computer room next door as I banged out the tune with Edirol Orchestral (I love the edirol sounds!). Enjoy!
Also, feedback on the vocal production would be nice. I was somewhat unorthodox with my compression methods ;)

You've a nice, clear, crisp sound here. Well done. Much enjoyed - thanks for sharing!
