Description
have a Bb Pocket Trumpet that I bought recently to try to incorporate into the Airport Seven experience some day. I just started playing and had my first lesson last week and realized it will take me at least a year just to get a consistent sound I'm happy with. However I did not let that stop me from trying to do something on this track. Instruments played here are: electric bass (two tracks - one high and modulated and one low and clean), hoof shaker, Indian tambourine like shaker, Hohner Melodica, and the aforementioned Allora Pocket Trumpet. I also played the Tanpura Devi on my iPhone (speaker to mic) and added a field recording from freesound.org credited here.

The trumpet was recorded in two ways. One with a mute that I rigged a Lavelier mic into so I can play through my guitar rig - and the other recorded clean with a Samson USB mic.
The basic drum track is an Apple Loop.
I could remix this forever - or stop now. I'm stopping now.

The picture is of King Tubby's mobile recording rig.

I see it as a monophonic synth now - some day it may become a trumpet.

Mixing forever...
I got that idea from the first minute of this really interesting track. In contrast to the photo, this sounds like a dip into Middle Eastern music from long ago. There's a mystical quality to the moaning instruments that is evocative of that genre of music. Very cool, Bud. I am amazed by your ingenuity and the manner in which you put this track together. Too many disparate electronic connections for me to completely understand, but you handle it like a pro.

A very creative creation indeed. I love the eclectic mix of sound, the huge bass sound and riff are great, trumpet kicks ass as do the bird sounds! wonderful.

Everyone else is right...
...you're one of the MacJams masters of the space between the notes...

This sounds very good, very cool, and very listenable... I love the main baseline... The drums are nice examples of simple funk...

The sign that it's good is that I'm listening to the music and not the story-of-how-the-music-was-made, fascinating though that is...

Jamaica meets the middle east! Love the Melodica. It reminded me of Paul Buckmaster's soundtrack for the film "12 Monkeys." I also enjoyed reading the description of your process and approach. It's almost as interesting as the music!
