An awesome remix done by Jonas Midstrup (Jones M) of our original ballad song "Bring Us Back Again" Vocal track is the original brought in to this song and speeded up a bit - vocals start at 1:37, enjoy :)

Feb 8th 2012 we released our ballad "Bring Us Back Again" built around piano, strings, guitar and synth. The song got into rotation on our danish national radiostation :) We stripped the song down to only guitar, strings and vocal and did an acoustic version" of the song too..

Pretty good remix. Solid stuff.

I sense a certain disconnect between the vocal and the dance synth/drums. The vocal is clearly sung with a more lazy accompaniment in mind than the very tight electronic rhythms. If you had a singer sing the same lines against this backing, she would probably have used a slightly less lyrical, rubato, phrasing.

And you're right.. the vocal track is taken from the original version and speeded up a bit.. that's how it's usually done on remixes :) We thought about recording a new more strong vocal for the remix, but then we felt as if it was not a remix, but more of a new song.. we didn't want that difference. When I say I love Dance music, this song could be like the definition of the particular type I like. I love the beats, sounds, synths, and voice in this song. I've been slowly trying to teach myself how to get this type of sound, but I'm still getting there. (Example of recent work in this genre: http://macjams.com/song/74137) I was wondering if sometime you could show me how you would put something like this together? It's amazing, and I love it. Also, by chance is there a youtube link for it? I would love to add it to this playlist I frequently listen to. :) Love the song, thanks for sharing it!

First of all, we didn't make this remix ourselves, it was done by a guy we know called Jonas Midstrup. As far as I know he works with Cubase5 if you know this software?

Well...
I'm a bit older, so while I understand the dance beat and all of that, my preference is for the more lyrical aspects of this mix and especially for the lovely vocal quality of your voice. The heavy thumping rhythm serves your purpose in creating a techno-pop dance tune. But I wonder if that ultimately serves the purpose of your rather extended lyric story. It's a tough question and there may be no real answer but to offer several versions of the same song to accommodate different tastes. There is no question, however, about the quality of not only the song, but the performance and production are all professional and well-considered. There is a certain magic to all of your tracks that is born of your collective skills and imagination. Look for the UNcommon denominator. The guiding principle should be Ars Gratia Artis. ... I love your work.

Long story
This song has a long history I can tell you.. I think I've recorded it 3 times, every time it got better.. to start with it didn't even have drums!! I recorded it then, also in an old microphone. Time went and Michael wanted to add the drum part, this meant me having to record it again since I was a bit out of beat now. Time went again and we bought a new microphone.. having heard some of our new recorded stuff compared to this one, we had to do it again! :)
Finally ready and released in the original version.. the acoustic version was made by a coincidence when working with the lineup of music and vocals... the remix was an idea Jonas had and wanted to try.. it's always great to try out some new stuff..
