Lyrics
Peter’s foundations [written 2012]

He’s just another one doing fine,
Caught in a frame, not before time,
His Del Boy tactics now on display,
Everyone knows hip hip hooray,
He’ll sell you out, there’s little doubt
He’ll tell you that it’ll work out.

He can arrange a dinner for you,
Premier league in with the few,
It will be “ awesome” two hundred grand,
Everything found you understand,
You’ll be well pleased, just find the cash,
Time for the prime minister’s bash.

Peter’s foundations are all bona fide,
Could there be something he’s trying to hide,
Oh Peter, cameras don’t lie,
They tell it the way that it is.

Cruddy solo played on a stylophone over verse.

He’s bent the rules a little they say,
Ooh sha la la – live for the day,
It’s said that he is staggeringly rich,
He’ll try to pull you in the ditch,
You’ll soon find out, what it’s about,
It’s all about reasonable doubt.

Peter’s foundations are all bona fide,
Could there be something he’s trying to hide,
Oh Peter, cameras don’t lie,
They tell it the way that it is.

He’s just another one doing fine,
Caught in a frame, not before time,

So I guess it happens on both sides of the pond. That's a relief! I thought it was only us. I love the way you mix excellent music with satirical lyrics.
Oh, and I very much enjoyed the, "Cruddy solo played on a stylophone over verse"

cash for questions
Hey, meeting prime ministers don't come cheap.
He's a busy man Mr. Cameron.
That's why he leaves his daughter in a pub, so he can get on with running this country ( into the ground)
Anyway, brilliant lyrics as always excellently put.
I was trying to count the beat but got lost somewhere.
have you upgraded your gear?
There seems to be less hiss / background noise on this.
maybe it's the magic stylophone.
anyway good stuff
cheers

thank you Kingbee
As you can see this latest post of mine hasn't exactly hit the groung running..re the timing, - .The time signature is for the verse 5/4 and for the chorus it changes to 3/4. I am still using the same old pc but make more use of things like noise gates etc.these days. I have never been much for the production side of things to be honest but lately I have made more of an effort. I bought my first stylophone about 2 years ago to help me write music when I'm away from home. It's worth it's weight in gold.

oh yes, i remember this.....well done john...i'm always amazed at the succinctness of your lyrics - you hit hard and there's no flab to wade through. signature woofer sound on the music...you're like victoria wood.....with balls.
you will be in my cabinet....when i'm prime minister....it's only a matter of time.

Greasy bar stuards to be sure and I think you are right when you say people like this despise the working man. Greed, greed and more greed. I'm sorry in one way I got you going but glad in another. Thank you for commenting and I'm pleased that you liked the song.

I suspect that our Peter will have skin like a rhino, still on this occasion he does seem to have come a bit of a cropper and his antics have provided us with some entertainment.

Thank you for visiting.

Beyond the satire...
...you've created a really intriguing piece of music. the multiple time signatures and all that wonderful harmony (which you've nicely overdubbed) especially with the chorus each time...all,of that is beautifully done. There's a bit of the feeling of Mr, Kite here, too. what a cool track. Glad I heard it.

Splendid John!
You imbue everything you do with a unique sound and approach.

The twin vocals work really well and the time signature lends an air of disquiet which is entirely appropriate for a man working under the radar (until he got caught)

Cheers

Time Out
I was thinking you were singing one time signature against the other, but then you explained it was in 5/4. Just like Dave Brubeck.

As always a great song enhanced by the woofer magic.

thanks Tim
As you say - like Dave Brubeck - I remember buying his album 'time furtherout' - my trio still does a little medley cuopling 'the unsquare dance' with 'Lady Madonna' and it works really well - for the most part it's in 7/8.
