Description:
This song kind of reminds me of something that might be used in a movie or something. I'm not quite sure if the mixing of the orchestra with the brass sounds up to par but hey what can ya do *shrugs*

Can't take my ears off &mdash 02/22/05 - 09:07:54 PM
You're right, it does have a sound that would go well in a
movie. Something about World War 2 maybe :D
Really impressed.

Truly a masterpiece &mdash 02/22/05 - 09:31:46 PM
This was such a wonderful song. It could fit in so many genres (of movies). I couldn't help but notice the name of the song "Polemistis" If my memory serves me right I think that is Greek for Warrior. Nice touch. I really enjoyed this.

Another enjoyable orchestral piece &mdash 02/22/05 - 10:10:06 PM
I think you are reaching the level where you should start
thinking about developing themes, giving your pieces
some cohesion. This is fun, but kind of a hodgepodge.

You have the potential to make something truly
memorable.

Thanks &mdash 02/22/05 - 10:23:20 PM
Thanks for listening. How can I develope my themes more? I have no
experience really so I don't know exactly what needs to happen. Give me some
guidance. I would appreciate it greatly.

You're asking us amateurs how to develop your themes more? :-) Hopefully
some more experienced than I will chime in here... but you'll probably need to
do what I need to do (since I too need to develop my themes more, among
other things.) Go study the masters. Get some sheet music of (and/or listen
carefully to and dissect) Holst, Bach, Copland, Vaughan Williams... look at
how they took melodies and developed and interwove them. I heard that
Hector Berlioz wrote a textbook on orchestration that is often still used today.
I don't think there's a one-sentence explanation for what you have to do,
otherwise we'd all be doing it. I'm struggling with how to orchestrate and
write things longer than 4 bars... you're already way ahead of me! I'll be
watching and learning from you, most likely!
ttfn,
Drakonis

deja vu, it's the next best thing to being there

I think Drakonis is right. There is no simple answer. You have so much talent,
I just think you could take your work to the 'next level.' That would require
some time, effort and study. Listening carefully to great composers. Building
your pieces around a thought, or a line. Recalling the thought in different
voices during the piece. Maybe write a symphony! I think the possibilities are
endless for you if you're only 20, winging it with a keyboard.
