Meditative
It does have a sort of mesmerising effect from the drums and the range of instruments you use. Certainly an eastern flavour. Nice piece of ambient music - very relaxing.

Hypnotic
I was hoping for a hypnotic feel to it. I may tray a slower tempo in future efforts. I'd like to build up my sample library a bit and bring in other sounds - or maybe just synth up some eastern timbres.

Meditative it is, Michael. The Eastern influence maintains interest whilst stealthily lulling you into a transcendental state. Full lotus is impossible :-) Take care, Peter.

Thanks for listening
I'm glad you liked it. I'm experimenting quite a bit with rhythm and patterns. This piece features several rhythmic patterns - some constrained to specific scale tones and others just constrained to key and a range of notes. Noatikl is a fascinating piece of software to help compose.

meditative
Nice piece. Definitely great tone colours.

The sitar-like instrument engages in lots of flurries of notes. It's a cool effect, but for a 5 minute piece it's somewhat unfocused.

Thanks!
Thanks for the feedback. It is a bit long but for eyes-closed or ambient sound, I wanted something a bit lengthier. Might be a good idea to alternate with other instruments in the piece. Not sure how focused a sitar can/should be but I am very new to eastern music in general! This particular software instrument is a tweaked jampack sitar that is a bit heavy on effects. I might try a more naked sitar in future pieces. I want to add other instruments in as well - not too many Indian samples in my library as of yet. I did approach this with the drums first and gradually added other ranges and timbres.

Thanks
That's great to hear! I thought of this a background music, hopefully inspirational at a subconscious level. I appreciate the comments - wish I could paint!
