Description

Another from my collection of children's songs. This one is actually a round (think Row, Row, Row, Your Boat). I gave it a more contemporary arrangement.

I took the video with my iPhone. We have a family of sandhill cranes that come to feed on sunflower seeds in our bird feeders. Over the past few weeks they've grown to trust me enough to eat from my hand. The parents won't let their chick get too close however. It's my first attempt at an iMovie project. So I kept things simple.

Beautiful
As usual, the guitars are wonderful - those opening chords are rich and warm yet clean as a whistle! Soft, gentle melody had me singing along with the round. I had a look at the video - you'd better keep feeding those birds, Andrew, and stay friends with them . Those beaks like they could do some damage if they were upset with you! After listening to your children's pieces I always think what a wonderful asset to your school's music program you must be!

	A Lame Tame Crane About as good as it gets in this genre, I am hoping that you are going to do an actual album(CD) of this stuff and market it... In general, most of the current Children's Music that I've heard is very forgettable but you have a knack of making them interesting to listeners of all ages. The musicianship is outstanding. Wow!
Of course, the music was wonderful, great singing and mix... but unfortunately I was listening while watching your video, so I was sort of mesmerized and distracted by the movie... I hadn't realized you could get this close to these gorgeous birds! Also, it is really hard to hold an iPhone camera steady, much less when a giant bird is pecking at your other hand! Great job shooting this and putting it together... I really enjoyed seeing these birds wandering around in your yard. And here I am getting excited when a little Cooper's hawk flies down and snags a sparrow-lunch off our bird feeder... you got me beat! Fun music, and a great front-yard spectacle! Someday I will get to the other coast and see the great sandhill migration.

No migration (I don't think). They're year round residents. Wait? You actually get to see hawks prey on sparrows. Rough to be a sparrow. Closest I get to that is when a red tail hawk decides to rest on our fence. If there are mockingbirds nesting in nearby bushes, they'll harass the hawk until it leaves. It's amazing to watch these brave little birds confront a bird of prey 5 times their size.

I made the video in iMovie. First I edited the footage down to close the same length of the song. In iMovie I was able to mute the audio from the clip itself and add the song from my iTunes library. Then I just uploaded the movie directly to YouTube from iMovie (in the Share menu). At YouTube I copied the "old" embed code (you have to select dialogue that switches to the old embed code as opposed to the new version-thank you Eduard). I pasted that embed code into the song description on this MJ song page.
