Description
Here is another song inspired by our recent trip to Alaska and western Canada.
We caught the car ferry M/V Columbia from Bellingham (WA) to Juneau (AK) along the Alaskan Marine Highway. It was one of the highlights of our trip. It didn’t have any cruise ship glitz – just great scenery, down to earth people and plenty of time to stare out across the water.
I found myself up quite early every morning walking round the mostly deserted decks with the sea mist shrouding the surrounding islands.
This song resulted.
Again it is deliberately pared back, arrangement wise. Single takes on picked guitar and vocals.
Hope you like it.
All comments and/or critiques welcome.
Regards,
Peter ☺

Lyrics
A Fool Upon The Stage – Peter Bowen (September 2012) Capo 2
Em / Dsus2 Em / Dsus4 Em / Dsus2 Em
In [Em] early dawn [Dsus2] light
Staring [Em] out across the [Dsus4] sound
There's [Em] solace in [Dsus2] no one [Em] around
A mist shrouds the air
Barely ruffled by the breeze
I'm sailing on gossamer seas
It's a [G] time to [D] let my guard drop down
And [Em] give my mind a rest from going [C] round and round and round and round
All too [G] soon, I'll have to [D] turn another page
And re[Em]turn to being a fool upon the [C] stage
Em / Dsus2 Em / Dsus4 Em / Dsus2 Em
An island slides by
Tall trees line the shore
Its destiny seems so assured
But the moment's soon gone
And time marches on
Its turn will eventually come
Take the [G] time to [D] let your guard drop down
And [Em] give your mind a rest from going [C] round and round and round and round
All too [G] soon, you'll have to [D] turn another page
And re[Em]turn to being a fool upon the [C] stage
Too [Em] often, in this [D] crazy world
People [C] rush to and [Em] fro
[Em] So when you [D] get the chance
[C] Try and take it real [D] slow
Solo over verse x 2
Repeat chorus 2
