Description
This is my arrangement of the old hymn. I created it within the last few weeks, for one of the children's choirs that I direct at our church. There are four verses. I am going to have the kids sing unison on the first verse. Second verse will be a solo. Third verse will be a newly composed section which can be layered onto the original melody, as a 'partner song.' The fourth verse will the partner song sung with the original melody and words. This is my demo track I made for my kids. I used Synthogy Ivory for the piano parts. I used a Peavey stage mic and a Fast Track interface. My keyboard is a Yamaha P-120 digital piano. I have a 2009 iMac.

Piano extraordinaire...
John,
First, it is so nice to hear one of your arrangements again after so many months.

Second, the piano work here is just beautiful and with just a hint now and again of the jazz spark that you so eloquently bring to so much of your work. You are so very skilled in this kind of playing and expression.

Third, once you glue all the parts together with your kids, this should be a terrific little choral number that I have no doubt will be very well received. It is so pleasant to hear a serious arrangement of this classic praise song. Your kids must love working with you.

Finally, the Ivory piano sounds just as great as ever. Have you tried the 10' Italian Grand yet? It's awfully cool.

Best of luck as you put all of this arrangement together in real time. Blessings...

Thanks, Paul
Paul, what kind words. You have made my night! I respect your talents greatly, and I am so happy to know that you like my arrangement.

I have not upgraded my Ivory for a few years now. Those same old sounds still sound fine to me, and I don't have a lot of cash to spare -- so -- I am content to leave my configuration 'as is' and explore the possibilities with what I've got.
