Yes
I could see this in the Lord of the Rings. In fact I'm not a big fan of Howard Shore's score and believe this would have worked far better.

Large Landscape
You are becoming the master of the epic soundtrack. The pounding bass starting around 1:30 or so is arresting / startling ... and a nice addition to these chords that meld and mold around each other. I am wondering, now, if a bona fide "tune" can spring from these soundscapes. ...
