Boogieman Boogie Halloween 2012

Description
So, this is the first outing for the new mic. The only scary thing is the word bowel in the lyrics, but it is meant for Halloween. I accidentally found a sound by mislabeling a vocal and I thought it was cool. You might not like this but that's why I buried it on this page. Thanks for giving it a listen. I have no clue, as usual.
Alternate 6th line: "When you go out to prowl". I would use that instead. :)

Lyrics
My Boogieman Boogie
You're my shugie-woogie
I love the way you howl
>
Blackness and disaster
Makes my heart beat faster
I feel it in my bowel
>
You keep me from dying
With those scares you're trying
I love your fearsome scowl
>>
Boogieman, you understand
My heart beats fast for you
Boogieman, take my hand
There's nothing left to do
>>
Keep me in your coffin
And, snuggle up often
You'll not hear me cry foul
>
I love you to death, now
You make me scream out, "Wow!"
I must throw in the towel
>>
Boogieman, you understand
My heart beats fast for you
Boogieman, take my hand
There's nothing left to do
>>
Boogieman

I don't know
if it as much fun as I'd like. I plugged in Songwriting and got that drum beat. My GB program is feisty. It still holds a grudge from the time it totally went AWOL. I have gremlin sliders that move by themselves. If I was smart I'd take that as a message to stop trying to do this. I somehow(?) changed the labeling on a track and got what I thought was a neat effect. I'll probably never be able to do it again. I hear a click. No idea why it's there and didn't want to anger the GB gods further by excising it....not while the track was moving back and forth, anywho. So, my heartfelt thanks to you, Andrew.

Haha
That pic caught me by surprise. I really like how you got those vocals in the back with the right amount of echo. Adds to the eerie vibe.

Hi, Mitchell.
I hit the vocals with rock vocal effect. That must be the echo, because I didn't do anything else. I was going to have a parallel vocal track but let some become the wa, wa and the rest was left on the chorus. Ahing and repeating phrases might be too much, so I used the accident. Thanks.

Boogieman Boogie
I like it Char. Unique. Love the lyrics, too. "Keep me in your coffin; And snuggle up often; You'll not hear me cry foul" :-) Well done. Thanks, Peter.

You liked
it? This wrote itself. I listened to Alice Cooper before I made the thing. I don't know if I was inspired or not. Thanks.

Cool sounds.
Nice use of the rhythmic strangeness for a sound bed. Don't be afraid of happy accidents .
Bowel could have been scarier like maybe Sarah Vowell.
( boo!)

I agree.
Not really scary. Prowl could've fit in there, too. Thanks.

Hmmm....cool
sounds like a forties style something that would have fit nicely in a Crosby/Hope or Abott/Costello spoof horror movie....like it.....pounding drum beat and a corrusvating vibrato libretto....what's not to like !

Hi, Chris,
I was thinking 40's Big Band sound but I can't do anything like that. So, you guys get stuck listening to my inferior schtick. I become brave each Halloween. I have no idea why that is. Thanks.

Shugie Woogie
Really enjoy that background (sci-fi pulsing) and your lyrics. Sounds like something Elvira would have used as one of her mood pieces for her show.
Sounds like you got a decent Halloween mood going, it's certainly is one of my favorite times of the year.

Hi, Damien,
It would be better with some sax and a Big Band sound. Are you game? I can do a different melody and I can sub the bowel line with.: When you go out to prowl. Add a few incidental but sultry musings and it would be more like I wanted it. Benny Goodman, anyone? Thanks for the support.

New mic!
Definite imporvement on the clarity Char! It is kinda of a cool contrast Char. You have a crooner style, which is quite a contrast to a scarey theme, but it works in the "tongue in cheek" light if a person allows it. Feels like a spoof. Pretty neat gal! I will say that mic gives you new sound! The harshness we've discussed seems to have disappeared!

I can't wait to hear you try some big band stuff! Maybe I am wrong Char, but I feel like your style would suit jazz tracks to a tee... Maybe i will surprise you with a big band progression and let you have at it. Good recording! FUN!

Mostly,
this mic can't be knocked to floor by the feline wrecking crew. The other one had something loose inside and then wouldn't even take the plug. I had to toss a lot of takes because of distortion that would pop in and out. It was time. I think I hit my vocal with Rock effect..never tried that before. I sing old Big Band type songs all the time. I like the relaxed way of singing. Smoke Gets In Your Eyes. Lover, Come Back To Me. Thank you Freddy for thinking of me.

I 've
used less loops than in this one, Mo. I've gotten the critique that I need to change tempo or key. Yeah, as if I know how to do that. I think I'll change the bowel line. It struck me as funny but if I had a chance to sing it differently I'd use: When you go out to prowl. Thanks so much. You are a sweet heart.

Demeter7 said 1876 days ago (October 26th, 2012)
Hah!
It wasn't what I was shooting for, either. I wrote it, as I later sang it, in just 4 minutes. (That explains my rather questionable line that will be changed if I can sing this to something else.) I thought it was kind of cool, at least, as a demo of the lyrics. Thank you very much, Sylvia.

Char
My fellow spook-inducer.
The throbbing beat running through this is weirdly fantastic in a perfectly anxious way. Builds dread.
The delaying backing vocals very nice and effective.
Nice lyrics :) "I feel it in my bowel" I think that line was in the non radio edit of unchained melody?
Nicely done you!
Demeter7 said 1876 days ago (October 27th, 2012)
That chugging
beat was a gift from GB. Mostly, the program screws with me. I know, I stole the line. I've promised the lawyers for The Righteous Brothers that I'll replace it. :) How's that lovely bride of your doing? Head cheese for dinner again, tonight? Thanks.

Minimal
Great vibe. A pulsing synth bass in the second half could be a nice addition. Another fine example of a woman falling for a "bad boy," this time set to music. The sound quality is quite nice. By the way, although that guy might seem attractive, his breath has that did-something-die? quality about it. Yuk. Good work here.

I just
happy I didn't break GB again. A pulsing synth bass is welcome. Have you got one? Or yeah, I must endure 8 hours of morning breath...bloody awful. Thank goodness we got a tempur pedic for the coffin. Do you know where I could find some laser clippers for his nails. They're getting awfully long and sharp. Thanks.

The Boogie Woogie Vampire Man with Blood Type B
Quite the mix of an almost torch song with a beat like a runner's heart and little blips here and there to keep things interesting. A fresh approach to Hallowe'en musicals everywhere (you really should be touring you know!).

I think your new mike sounds better to my ears. Cleaner and will less background noise.

I'm glad you don't allow your statement 'I have no clue' to stop your creative spark.

Cheers,
Doug
