But
You know, I've never tried but what a gimmick that would be. ;-)
I'm glad that you enjoyed it.

Shred is not dead!
Wow. I envy your sweeps and arpegios man! You really hold this together remarkably from a composition standpoint. Its a long piece (I have a tough time writing a 20 second solo!) that I never felt was dragging or failing to maintain forward momentum. Your sense of progression and phrasing is as impressive as your technical skills.

I do wonder if shortening the last section wouldn't strengthen the whole? I realize the point is the shredding, but you kind of linger on the same conceptual ground a bit there in that regard. Also, I don't know that all of the scratch effects contribute with the same effectiveness. They seem to work in some places better than others.

This is a killer tour de force of both guitarmanship and progrock writing!

Thanks. I agree that the last section may be a little long, but it's still in the "production demo" stage. It's kind of a homage to Zappa, you know, where he would develop a little theme against a vamp and keep bringing it up & down. I've always loved that concept, even though it's a little hard on those who are not guitarists. It's trying to balance the whole thing that gets a little tricky. Besides, it's fun....
It may stay that way as I'm planning on this being the final track on the new CD. It's still up in the air.
Thanks for the support!

wow
Really great stuff. Very impressive and enjoyable. You guitar playing, while quite stunning, does at times get a bit sloppy on the super fast parts. Regardless, I wish I could play even half that well. I think it mostly just shows the great skill of your music writing, pushing the limits of even great guitarists. This is a great piece all around.

wow
Thanks for the kind words and critique. Some days everything comes together perfectly and others the vibe is there and things aren't technically as perfect. The one thing I don't do is comp parts together for solos. I'd rather do it in one take and take what comes then "cheat" and comp the perfect parts from various takes. It's all just snapshots in time, but I'm not fond of airbrushing......
I'm just glad people are enjoying the music, since that's what it's all about.
Thanks for the support!

you show off!
This is a pretty indulgent piece, but it has a lot of
drama and melody... you definitely can play that
guitar, whew! The first half of the song, with it's
different moods and sections, really held my interest.
I found my attention wandering in the second half...it
seemed like the momentum was getting lost.
Overall, this was pretty cool. It reminded me of my
air guitar days...

Passion and talent
It just pours out. Great track. The ending seemed kind of
abrupt, but maybe that's because you could have gone on
forever. Or you wanted my mind to keep you playing even
after the track ended (which it did). Excellent passion and
talent.

Just like you said! "An ethereal, dreamy guitar
instrumental." You really deliver on this. I am slack-jawed.
